Background / History

Orochimaru was the Third Hokage's prized pupil and later became one of Konoha's Three Sannin alongside Jiraiya and Tsunade. Even early on, he was marked by a hoarse voice, unusual curiosity, and a willingness to probe into protected clan secrets, including the Uchiha Sharingan. 7 35

He first met Uchiha Katsuo as part of a visit with Tsunade. Orochimaru immediately noted that Katsuo's mannerisms and thoughts did not resemble those of a nine-year-old, while Katsuo recognized Orochimaru's own unconventional nature. 41

Katsuo later confronted him over his interest in Hashirama's cells.
