Whoosh—a golden beam shot from the enormous golden eye overhead. It was a faster-than-light strike, so swift that only Ares, the God of War, and Grand Lancer Romulus among those present could react. Without hesitation, Ares used his massive body to shield the Chaldea group from above.
At the same time, Romulus appeared before the Chaldea group and deployed a powerful golden barrier. Only after the two had acted did Shen Fei react, but by then it was already too late. The golden beam struck Ares.
"Lord Quirinus." After uttering those words, Ares's enormous body suddenly vanished without a trace.
"What happened? Lord Ares disappeared." Only then did Mash, Ritsuka, and the others react.
"What incredible speed. It seemed even faster than the Gemini Gods before, and that power was terrifying." Sensing Ares's disappearance, Shen Fei immediately summoned Avalon again. Chaos had not even spoken before launching an attack, and Ares had been annihilated in a single blow. It gave him quite a fright.
Ares had previously endured Zeus's endless lightning while fighting him. Like Zeus, he possessed conceptual defenses around his body. Yet such a being had been destroyed in a single strike, which meant Chaos could destroy Zeus just as easily.
"What exactly happened just now?" The speed had been too great, and Mash and Ritsuka still had trouble accepting Ares's disappearance.
"He died protecting you. His Saint Graph has completely dissipated. What the enemy unleashed was a strike of the sun, an authority surpassing even that of the god Apollo." Romulus explained what had happened.
"So this is Chaos, the origin of all the gods in Greek mythology." Sherlock Holmes frowned deeply. This was the first time he had displayed such an expression. Though his intellect was astounding, he could think of no way to oppose Chaos.
