"He reacted pretty quickly. Looks like I might not have been able to kill him."
Shen Fei held no particular grudge against the Cryptors. With Mash involved, he generally would not go for the kill—except for Beryl Gut. That man had to die.
Shen Fei naturally had access to Chaldea's intelligence on the seven Cryptors, including information absent from the official records. For instance, what Beryl had done to Mash at Chaldea was never documented. But while there were no records, there were people who had experienced it firsthand. Roman and Da Vinci had both told him how dangerous Beryl was. That was why Shen Fei had come here despite his injuries, determined to take him out.

"Save me." Struck by the Rune of Death, Beryl had not died instantly. Instead, he struggled to beg Koyanskaya for help.
