"Gulp~"
"Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique!"
After listening to Laozi's words, Li Yun swallowed hard, his heart burning with fervor.
That so-called Supreme Purity Sacred Art was certainly impressive—after all, it was a creation Laozi had adapted from his own cultivation method after attaining Dao and becoming a Saint. Its power was beyond doubt, ranking among the most supreme techniques in the Primordial World.
But compared to the Supreme Purity Sacred Art, the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique was a name that thundered in his ears.
It was the method of Attaining Dao through Strength passed down from Pangu. Unfortunately, when the Three Pure Ones were at the Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal realm, they had failed to detect its existence or recognize the value of the complete Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique. This led them to never exchange their versions of the technique. Without the full cultivation method, and after witnessing the prestige of Hongjun's attainment of Dao and sainthood, what other thoughts could they have had? Naturally, they chose to take him as their master, accepted the Hongmeng Purple Qi, and cultivated the Severing the Three Corpses path.
But just because the Three Pure Ones didn't cultivate it didn't mean the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique was weak.
Nine Revolutions to Sainthood!
This sainthood didn't refer to a Heavenly Dao Saint, but a Hunyuan Sage.
Yet the cultivation of the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique was extremely demanding, requiring a powerful physical body and Primordial Spirit. That was why, despite being a transcendent method, it could only serve as a protective divine technique in the future, with virtually no one ever successfully cultivating it.
Even Yang Jian of the Chan Teachings, who possessed the divine-human bloodline, only cultivated the Eight Nine Mysterious Technique—a crude imitation created by Jieyin and Zhunti—not the authentic Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique.
Now, with such an invincible technique that held the promise of attaining Dao right before him, how could he give it up? How could he let it slip by?
In an instant, Li Yun spoke up: "Master, this disciple is willing to cultivate the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique!"
These words immediately startled Xuandu, who had been about to choose the Supreme Purity Sacred Art.
Logically speaking, the Supreme Purity Sacred Art was created by Laozi after he attained Dao and became a Saint. Its value and function were self-evident—how could anyone abandon it?
But Li Yun had done just that, and given their years of relationship and understanding, Xuandu knew Li Yun wouldn't make a choice lightly. It had to be a decision born of deep thought, with other intentions and ideas in mind.
With this thought, Xuandu no longer rushed to choose. Instead, he bowed to Laozi and asked, "May I ask, Master, what difference is there between the Supreme Purity Sacred Art and the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique?"
"What distinctions will arise from cultivating the two?"
Hearing this, Laozi cast a deep glance at Xuandu.
He had clearly noticed Xuandu's earlier subtle movements—he had been favoring the Supreme Purity Sacred Art that Laozi himself had created.
Yet just because of Li Yun's choice, Xuandu hesitated, even going so far as to inquire about the differences between the two methods. This disappointed him somewhat.
Though it showed Xuandu's trust in Li Yun, it also revealed a lack of firmness in standing by his side.
Still, Laozi didn't show any displeasure. Instead, he explained calmly, "The Supreme Purity Sacred Art is something I created based on the Taiqing lineage's inheritance. Cultivating it will align you with the Taiqing lineage's heritage, whether in Sorcery and Divine Abilities or other methods and awareness!"
"And the Supreme Purity Sacred Art was created after I, your master, attained Dao. It is itself a top-tier cultivation technique. Across the entire Primordial World, few techniques can compare to it."
"However, once you reach the Quasi-Saint realm with this Supreme Purity Sacred Art, you will encounter obstacles. To advance further beyond Quasi-Saint, you will need great fortuitous encounters, great destiny, and great perseverance."
At these words, Xuandu and Li Yun both nodded.
But Xuandu was lost in thought, while Li Yun paid no attention at all to the details of the Supreme Purity Sacred Art.
After all, whether it was the Supreme Purity Sacred Art or the Sorcery and Divine Abilities inherited from the Taiqing lineage, they were essentially meaningless in the face of the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique.
Taking in the reactions of both disciples, Laozi wasted no more words and continued, "As for the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique, it originates from Pangu and possesses the ability to Attain Dao through Strength. Cultivated to its utmost, it holds the potential to Attain Dao through Strength and become a Saint. But its cultivation difficulty is dozens, even hundreds of times greater than other techniques."
"Attaining Dao through Strength—even Pangu failed at it in the past. So while this method may seem more promising than the Supreme Purity Sacred Art, its difficulty is far greater, and in the end, there is virtually no chance of success."
Hearing this, Xuandu gave up completely.
The Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique was indeed powerful, but if what Laozi said was true, its value was greatly diminished.
Since Attaining Dao through Strength was impossible, what was the point of expending dozens or hundreds of times more effort and hardship on the path of cultivation?
With this thought, Xuandu immediately bowed and said, "Master, this disciple chooses the Supreme Purity Sacred Art!"
"Mm~"
Laozi nodded in satisfaction. Without further ado, he waved his hand, and two Jade Talismans landed in the hands of Li Yun and Xuandu respectively.
Regardless, Xuandu, as his Direct Disciple, was willing to uphold his legacy—this pleased Laozi greatly.
As for Li Yun, the latter was not a Direct Disciple after all, so Laozi couldn't truly teach him everything. Choosing the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique, though difficult, was undeniably more suitable for him, given that he possessed the Human-Witch bloodline.
With that thought, Laozi said no more and simply waved his hand. "Alright, I've passed the techniques to you. You may leave now."
"Xuandu, as a Direct Disciple, you may reside in the side hall of the Palace of Supreme Purity."
"Li Yun, as an Inner Disciple, you cannot dwell in the Palace of Supreme Purity, but you may choose any Cave Mansion in the eastern region of Mount Kunlun to live in. As for other areas, the west is West Kunlun Mountain, where the Queen Mother of the West resides—do not disturb her. The south and north are the territories of the Chan Teachings and Jie Teachings. As a disciple of the Human Teachings, you must not go there rashly."
"Once you have completed the foundational cultivation of your techniques, come see me again."
"Yes, Master!"
"Yes, Master!"
With a reply, Li Yun and Xuandu dared not delay.
Immediately after, the two brothers stopped disturbing Laozi. They bowed to him in salute, then turned and walked out toward the outside world.
As they left, Laozi said nothing more. He turned and strode into the alchemy hall, sat down before the Eight Trigrams Furnace, and began refining pills.
"Junior Brother Li Yun, once you've found a residence, you must let me know."
Outside the Palace of Supreme Purity, Xuandu said to Li Yun with some excitement, "When I've successfully cultivated the Supreme Purity Sacred Scripture, I'll come find you to discuss the Dao."
"Besides, you and I are the only disciples of the Human Teachings. From now on, we must work hand in hand."
Hearing this, Li Yun snapped back to reality. He glanced at the spirited Xuandu and thought to himself, "As expected, becoming a Direct Disciple really changes one's mindset."
Thinking of the cautious, somewhat rigid Xuandu from before, and looking at the confident figure before him now, Li Yun did not refuse. "I understand, Senior Brother!"
"Once I've found my Dao field, I will certainly inform you."
After saying this, the two exchanged a few more pleasantries. Li Yun then turned and left the grounds of the Palace of Supreme Purity, while Xuandu hurried impatiently toward a side hall.
If you can't find the book by its title, try searching by the author's name. Maybe it was just renamed!
