"I have learned a great deal!"
Koshiro sheathed his sword and bowed his head in sincere thanks.
Mo Xingchen slung an arm around Koshiro's shoulders and said with a grin, "Let's go. It's almost mealtime after our workout. You don't mind treating me to a meal, do you?"
"Hahahaha, what are you saying, sir? Of course, I'll welcome you with open arms."
On their way back, Bogard and Koshiro were engrossed in processing their spar. They reflected on their weaknesses, absorbed the other's strengths, and considered how to integrate them into their own sword techniques.
Meanwhile, the two children excitedly pulled Mo Xingchen aside, bombarding him with questions. They had never witnessed such a battle before. Even during their usual training drills, Koshiro was always relaxed, never displaying the oppressive aura he had shown today.
Mo Xingchen patiently explained, simplifying his vocabulary as much as possible so that they could understand at their age.
After lunch, Mo Xingchen outlined a targeted physical training regimen for the two youngsters and then let them train on their own.
Koshiro, Mo Xingchen, and Bogard sat by the veranda, sipping fragrant tea and watching the apprentices in the courtyard sweat it out with youthful vigor. Koshiro suddenly remarked, "Vice Admiral Garp was able to raise figures like you and Dragon, so he must be a master educator. It's a shame I haven't had the chance to meet such a remarkable hero; it truly is a regret!"
"Hahahaha~ It's probably for the best. If you don't meet, at least you won't be disappointed."
Mo Xingchen nearly spat out his tea, while Bogard nodded enthusiastically in agreement, like a chick pecking at grain. Koshiro looked at their expressions, completely bewildered.
"When did you meet Dragon?"
As Koshiro was about to refill their tea, he heard this and his hand trembled, spilling hot water on the table.
It was then that he remembered. Although Dragon held Mo Xingchen in high regard, the two in front of him were Marines. He was unsure how to respond.
Mo Xingchen had casually asked while looking at the courtyard. When he didn't get a response for a while, he turned to look at Koshiro, noticing sweat beading on his forehead and his silent, pursed lips. Mo Xingchen then chuckled, "Don't worry, the Marines' higher-ups are all aware of his status. Besides, he was a Marine before. I was just wondering how he's doing, as I haven't seen him in many years."
Seeing Mo Xingchen's casual demeanor and Bogard's indifferent expression, Koshiro let out a long sigh, wiped the sweat from his brow, and continued to pour hot water for them.
"Actually, Dragon and I have known each other for many years. The last time I saw him was about two years ago. He said he had some business to attend to in the East Blue and wanted to check on his son. We chatted for a while, and he spoke of you with great admiration."
"Yes, his son is indeed in the East Blue. I'm accompanying Vice Admiral Garp to see his grandson this time. Speaking of which, you're with the Revolutionary Army, aren't you!"
This startled Koshiro greatly. The hand holding the teacup trembled uncontrollably. Seeing this, Mo Xingchen burst into laughter, "Hahaha, your reaction is a bit too much! You need to train more. As his friend, you shouldn't be so flustered."
Mo Xingchen took a sip of hot tea, a teasing expression on his face, and said, "Jokes aside, when Kuina gets a little older, perhaps you could forge her a new sword."
"Oh! Why is that?"
If you find this book good, please add it to your bookshelf to avoid losing it next time.
"It mainly depends on how tall Kuina grows. Your Wado Ichimonji is a long sword, and if her reach and height aren't sufficient, she'll find it awkward to wield. I believe swordsmen don't necessarily have to pursue famous swords; a sword that suits oneself is more important. You could have old Mr. Kozaburo craft a sword perfectly suited to Kuina based on her height, strength, and drawing style. Just like my Chun Jun, I think this would greatly help her progress in the way of the sword."
"Thank you, sir, for thinking so kindly of my daughter."
Koshiro sat up straight and bowed respectfully to Mo Xingchen.
"It's nothing. I'm quite fond of that girl. Encourage these two children, and I hope they can persevere. I won't impose any longer."
Mo Xingchen stood up, waved goodbye to Koshiro, and turned to leave with a flourish. Bogard also stood up, nodded in farewell, and followed him.
The next afternoon, as Mo Xingchen and Bogard were nearing Windmill Village, they spotted frequent flashes of fire on the beach near the port from their warship. This was followed by rumbling explosions.
Bogard immediately ordered the warship to full speed, assuming some reckless pirates were bombarding Windmill Village.
Mo Xingchen, seeing Bogard's anxious expression, remained remarkably calm. He even patted Bogard's arm, signaling him to relax.
"With Vice Admiral Garp in town, what are you worried about? Bogard, how about we make a bet?"
Hearing Vice Admiral Garp's name, Bogard's urgency slightly subsided. He had been too panicked to think clearly just moments before.
"Vice Admiral Mo, what are we betting on?"
"I bet 100 Belly that the commotion is entirely Vice Admiral Garp's doing. What do you say, take it?"
"No way, why would Vice Admiral Garp be throwing cannonballs at the coastline?"
"Hahahaha, let's wait and see!"
As the warship drew closer to the port, Mo Xingchen and Bogard stood at the bow and finally got a clear view of the scene on shore.
Garp stood on the shore, laughing heartily and shouting things like "Run, dodge quickly!" Then, with both hands, he continuously threw cannonballs, bombarding Ace and Luffy.
Ace and Luffy desperately dodged, not actually getting hit by the cannonballs, but occasionally being sent flying by the shockwaves of the explosions.
At this moment, Ace, with sharp eyes, spotted the warship approaching the sea. He waved his small hands and shouted loudly, "Uncle Mo! Help! Grandpa's going to kill us~"
Mo Xingchen grinned at Bogard, raised an eyebrow, and snapped his fingers, his index and middle fingers hooked together slightly.
Bogard stared at the scene on the shore, pursed his lips, let out a heavy sigh through his nose, and pulled 100 Belly from his inner coat pocket, slapping it into Mo Xingchen's hand.
Then, he used Geppo to quickly arrive at the coastline, swung his sword to cut open the cannonball Garp threw, shielded Ace and Luffy behind him, and said indignantly:
"Vice Admiral Garp! Isn't this too reckless!"
Mo Xingchen also landed on the shore from the air right behind him. Ace, as if finding his backbone, pulled Luffy and ran to Mo Xingchen, beginning to complain and angrily accuse Garp of his various evil deeds against them.
"Yohohohoho, you're back!"
