| First Appearance | Reincarnating as Tōryū 297 |
Background
Born beneath a beehive after being abandoned by his mother, Tōryū petrified himself to survive a hornet's sting and latched onto it. He entered the hive and spent seventeen years parasitizing the queen bee, absorbing nutrients and knowledge before emerging to enter human society. Unlike most Stand users, he was born with his Stand, Wonder of U. 297
Tōryū settled temporarily in Vostok-51, where he worked at the local hospital and lived in Priest Joseph's small church. His tireless strength, precision, and rigid efficiency quickly made him a dependable worker despite his taciturn manner. 297 298
While retrieving honey in the forest, he discovered an infant with pointed ears amid a mysterious pink light. He named her Elysia and brought her to the church, beginning a relationship that gradually tempered his solitary, survival-focused outlook. 298
Appearance
Tōryū is a tall Stone Person with cold gray eyes and a body capable of developing dark gray stone armor. His appearance can become partially petrified during injury, dormancy, or forced awakening. 304 309 310
- Gray eyes occasionally display an inhuman, inorganic light when assessing threats or activating calamity. 305
- His stone armor has a dark, liquid-metal-like luster; pale-green silicon-based “blood” seeps from damaged joints. 309 310
- Following recovery, only a bluish-gray trace remained on his right shoulder, while his right hand regained normal movement. 312 313
- Each six-year molting period replaces his old shell with a taller, stronger, smoother stone body. 330
Personality
Tōryū initially approaches life through cold logic, efficiency, and survival value. He reduces people and risks to “data,” avoids unnecessary intervention, and treats emotional appeals as inefficient until experience forces him to confront their human cost. 305 316
He is observant, restrained, and highly practical. Rather than seek attention, he calculates routes, rationing, weather, threats, and available resources; he also prefers indirect solutions when open conflict is unnecessary. 304 306 313
Elysia/Aili brings out his protective and gentler side. He gives her warmth and shelter, blocks threats from approaching her, and repeatedly places her safety above his own physical condition. 304 305 309 351
Abilities & Skills
Stone Person Physiology
Tōryū possesses a silicon-based body distinct from human biology.
- His strength and precision allow him to work tirelessly and handle heavy medical supplies without error. 298
- His body converts silicon elements into repair material; he gathers silicon-rich ore to mend damage and accelerate recovery. 312 321
- His defenses are comparable to a Honkai Beast shell, and he is highly resistant to cold. 310 322
- Severe petrification can force him into deep dormancy; a premature awakening left him half-stone and physically unstable. 307 308 309
- He undergoes a three-day molting process every six years and cannot be disturbed while shedding his old stone shell. 330
Wonder of U
Tōryū's innate Stand, Wonder of U, manipulates the laws of calamity against those who pursue him or the Stand. 297
- Investigating, attacking, or even intending to pursue Tōryū or Wonder of U marks a target for escalating misfortune that continues until death. 297
- The Stand can manifest physically, mimic other appearances, phase through walls, and appear before multiple targets at once. 297
- Tōryū can suppress or apply its effect with restraint, using minor accidents to redirect Honkai Beasts rather than kill them. 306
- A hostile vendor suffered a sudden calamity after attempting to touch Elysia, while an armed attacker’s gun backfired fatally after firing on the group. 305 313
- Wonder of U can patrol independently; Tōryū used it to punish criminal activity throughout Twilight Town and sharply improve the town’s public safety. 328
Calamity Energy Manipulation
Tōryū can actively direct calamity energy beyond Wonder of U’s passive pursuit effect.
- He annihilated the Herrscher of Thunder by reversing the black rain into blades and summoning a massive bolt of black lightning. 351
- Herrscher attacks can miss him through seemingly impossible accidents and spatial distortions. 351
- He can create a manifested proxy of Wonder of U to escort allies without intervening unless necessary. 323
- Excessive or uncontrolled use causes severe backlash, exhaustion, and physical collapse. 309
Silicon-based Perception
Tōryū uses a specialized perception ability to analyze mineral composition, energy fluctuations, and nearby threats.
- He tracks Honkai Energy concentrations and correctly identified the approach of the Herrscher of Reason in Providence. 316
- He can detect nearby enemies and assess routes, weather changes, supplies, and terrain with unusual precision. 304 313
- His perception can be extended through Wonder of U to observe distant situations without exposing himself. 310 316
Survival and Tactical Skills
- Experienced in navigation, rationing, shelter construction, and traveling through severe environments. 304 313
- Possesses practical self-defense knowledge and recognizes efficient combat techniques. 314 315
- Uses direct force selectively, preferring scouting, misdirection, threat assessment, and positional advantage. 306 313
Equipment
- Modified dark-green off-road vehicle — A Reinhardt family vehicle with a raised chassis, wide tires, and a third row of seats; used by Tōryū and his companions during their travels. 318 322
- Crystal Shards — Pink crystals condensed through Elysia/Aili's energy, carried for emergency protection and support. 313 316
- Maps and survival supplies — Tōryū routinely carries route maps, preserved food, fuel, and silicon ore for travel and bodily repair. 304 313
- Encrypted Flame Chasers communicator — Used during the Changkong City Honkai outbreak to receive evacuation routes and Honkai Beast locations. 352
Relationships
- Elysia / Aili — His closest companion. Tōryū found her as an infant, named her, and became fiercely protective of her throughout their journey. 298 304 351
- Chiyou — Traveling companion and combat ally. Their relationship begins in wary silence but develops into mutual respect and coordinated protection of Elysia. 310 313 315
- Priest Joseph — The priest who gave Tōryū shelter in Vostok-51 and accepted the infant Elysia into the church. 297 298
- Mobius — Initially connected to the Flame Chasers who pursued Tōryū and Aili; later recruits him under her First Research Lab and grants him a Special Advisor position. 318 323 324
- Vill-V — An uneasy ally whose destructive methods Tōryū attempts to restrain by having Aili assist with identifying genuinely harmful targets. 328 329
- Sakura — A fellow non-human companion whom Tōryū assists during the Crimson Canyon operation. 321 323
- Ling — Aili's younger companion; Tōryū protects her alongside Aili while others investigate the Crimson Canyon mine. 323
