Nara Kaikei tracked down and killed Uchiha Madara, then investigated his techniques while Black Zetsu escaped with White Zetsu Tobi. As Kirigakure and the other villages moved toward ending the war, Konoha prepared for a Kage Summit and Hiruzen considered Minato as his successor.

• Nara Kaikei visited Katsuyu, became Shikkotsu Forest’s contract holder, and later questioned Kokuō about the tailed beasts, the Sage Lands, and the Child of Prophecy.
• Nara Kaikei found Uchiha Madara at Mountains’ Graveyard and attacked him repeatedly, overcoming his Susanoo and Izanagi before destroying him with Dust Release: World Splitter.
• Black Zetsu escaped underground with White Zetsu Tobi as Nara Kaikei confirmed Madara’s death, collected Madara’s scrolls, and rescued Uchiha Obito for Konoha.
• Nara Kaikei studied Madara’s techniques and sealing scrolls, forged a Black Receivers pellet, and considered ways to enter the Pure Land and learn the Spirit Transformation Technique.
• The Third Mizukage ordered Karatachi Yagura to halt attacks, seek an armistice with Konoha, and withdraw Kirigakure from the war, while warning of Uchiha Madara’s wider threat.
• Hiruzen Sarutobi received Kirigakure’s ceasefire proposal and secret letter, but refused to return Isobu to Kirigakure and agreed only to deliberate over the terms and a Kage Summit.
• Tsunade told Nara Kaikei that Kirigakure sought the Three-Tails, and Kaikei asked her about her Wood Release training as the war neared its end.
• Hiruzen learned that Iwagakure and the Sand Village had agreed to ceasefires, then chose Minato Namikaze as his preferred attendant and potential successor over Shimura Danzō’s recommendation of Orochimaru.

Nara Kaikei pursued a Fourth Hokage campaign while maneuvering Pakura toward the Kazekage position and training her to become strong enough to claim it. The arc ended with Tsunade asking Kaikei to accompany her to see Orochimaru about her Wood Release training.

• Tsunade urged Nara Kaikei to run for Fourth Hokage, and he agreed while hoping to avoid most of the office’s duties.
• Nara Kaikei proposed that Pakura become Kazekage and build an alliance between Sunagakure and Konoha, while he brought Samui to Nara Forest and kept her Jinchuriki identity secret.
• Nara Shikano pledged clan support for Kaikei’s candidacy, learned Kaikei had taught Tsunade Wood Release, and agreed to help train Samui.
• Hiruzen Sarutobi sent Kaikei and Minato Namikaze to investigate reports of Uchiha Madara, then called them back and revealed that Obito was under investigation.
• Kaikei announced his Hokage bid to his teammates, received the Spirit Transformation Technique from Shizune, and entrusted his election campaign to Nara Shikano and Nara Shikaku.
• Kaikei and the Nara family discussed the election and his plan to turn the Empty Zone into Konoha’s center and economic hub.
• Pakura chose to fight for the Kazekage seat, and Kaikei told her she would need to escape him and prove herself before becoming Fifth Kazekage.
• Kaikei tested and defeated Pakura, gave her a demanding training regimen and his Swift Release Chakra Creation Method, then reviewed the election plan with Tsunade before she asked him to see Orochimaru with her.

Tsunade and Nara Kaikei defeated Orochimaru, then turned against Shimura Danzō over his crimes and Hiruzen Sarutobi’s failure to stop him. After Nara Kaikei defeated Hiruzen in Root Base, Tsunade killed Danzō despite Hiruzen’s plea to spare him.

• Tsunade and Nara Kaikei fought Orochimaru outside Kikyo Castle, where Nara Kaikei killed Manda and defeated Orochimaru, cutting off his hands.
• Tsunade confronted Hiruzen Sarutobi about Orochimaru’s experiments and announced that she and Nara Kaikei would target Shimura Danzō next.
• Tsunade and Nara Kaikei delayed their attack to recover and gather intelligence, while Nara Kaikei discovered Orochimaru’s scroll contained Sage Art: Inorganic Reincarnation.
• Nara Kaikei used Flower Tree World Descent to incapacitate Root, then entered Root Base with Tsunade and Minato Namikaze to find Uchiha Obito and Shimura Danzō.
• Tsunade and Nara Kaikei captured Danzō, but Hiruzen Sarutobi demanded they leave Root and Danzō to him, prompting Nara Kaikei to challenge him.
• Nara Kaikei fought Hiruzen Sarutobi and defeated him after Minato Namikaze refused to help rescue Danzō.
• Tsunade refused Hiruzen Sarutobi’s plea to spare Danzō and killed him with Wood Style: Great Cloth Bag Technique.

Nara Kaikei helped Tsunade prepare for the Hokage election, shared his techniques, and tested himself against Minato as the Five Kage negotiated over tailed beasts and prisoners. Back in Konoha, Kaikei discovered Obito’s Mangekyo, found a Shinigami Mask, and began planning a new home for Kikyo Orphanage.

• Shimura Danzō’s corpse released the Reverse Four Symbols Seal, but Nara Kaikei carried Tsunade to safety before the seal consumed Danzō and left a crater.
• Nara Kaikei and Tsunade planned to teach Wood Release to selected ninja, while Kaikei also arranged for the Pig Deer Butterfly clans to learn Boil Release.
• Nara Kaikei sparred with Minato Namikaze, whose tactics broke [Black Warrior] before Minato ran out of Chakra and surrendered.
• Minato taught Nara Kaikei Wind Style: Spiral Ball, and Kaikei quickly expanded it into Wind Style: Great Ball Rasengan.
• At the Kage Summit, Hiruzen Sarutobi confirmed that Uchiha Madara was alive, and the Five Kage agreed to search for him before negotiating over tailed beasts, prisoners, and weapons.
• Nara Kaikei proposed trading the Eight-Tails separately from Killer B and offered Kirigakure a chance to ransom four of its Seven Ninja Swords.
• Nara Kaikei visited Uchiha Obito at Konoha Hospital and sensed that his ocular power had grown to Mangekyo strength.
• Nara Kaikei found a Shinigami Mask at the ruined Uzumaki Shrine, then used Wood Release to build a house at the Empty Zone and proposed moving Kikyo Orphanage there.
