Background / History

Zhao Yue'er is the daughter of Yiyuan Sect's leaders, True Person Qingbo and True Person Lingwei. Though she has not formally entered the sect rolls, her position as the sect master's daughter grants her unusual authority among its disciples. When she first meets Li Feng, she explains his place within the sect and brings him to meet her parents and the elders. 5

After finding Li Feng neglected by Xiao Longzi and Xie Yuezi, she accepts him as her disciple under the jokingly named “Erxiang Sect.” She gives him the Nine Revolutions Profound Pill to help establish his foundation, teaches him Qi Refining and literacy, and imposes water-carrying and wood-chopping duties to temper his body and mind. 7 8

Her relationship with Li Feng develops beyond a conventional master-disciple arrangement. She repeatedly protects and indulges him, secretly provides him with pills and treasures, and joins him in exploring caves and confronting threats to the sect. 18 20 23

Zhao Yue'er is compassionate, sheltered, and easily delighted by attention. Having never left Qingyun Flat, she initially takes Li Feng's extravagant flattery at face value and is moved by his fabricated misery. Her sympathy for him leads directly to her decision to teach and support him. 7

As a teacher, she combines patience with severe discipline. She explains cultivation principles and scriptures in detail, but punishes Li Feng's laziness by escalating his chores and chasing him with Palm Thunder after he attempts to flee. 8 9

She is also mischievous and competitive. She plots petty retaliation against Xiao Longzi and Xie Yuezi for neglecting Li Feng, makes a wager over cultivation with him, and uses the threat of exposing fellow disciples' mistakes to obtain items she wants. 7 9 20

With much of the sect incapacitated, Zhao Yue'er borrows ancestral treasures to conceal Qingyun Flat and strengthen its defenses.
