Background

Luo Yan began as a scientific researcher. His aptitude for three potions led the Illuminati to train him into a superhuman combatant, eventually elevating him to Level 32 Sword-Bearer. The Morgan Family selected him in part because he lacked political ambition and was expected to remain obedient even if promoted further. 288

He preferred research to power. His major work included brain-computer interface technology and program recognition for Life Armor. He concealed a quantum communication device after becoming wary of an Ambition Faction within the Illuminati, but unknowingly entrusted it to his confidant Ya Nuo. 288

Carmen’s rebellion trapped Luo Yan in the Double Pupils Faction’s orbit. Though he initially intended to feign defection long enough to report to the Chairman, Royia’s detention and Huang Ji’s revelation that Ya Nuo had been a planted spy left him isolated. He subsequently performed the role of a committed Double Pupils member, securing Morgan Family support and using Longevity Elixir distribution to establish influence among Carmen’s forces. 288 291 292 293

False Defection and Consolidation of Power

After Huang Ji exposes Ya Nuo as a spy and uses Royia as leverage, Luo Yan must convincingly portray himself as “Double Pupils Luo Yan.” He draws the Morgan Family into the conflict, receives elite troops, distributes Longevity Elixir, and gains enough standing to direct many of Carmen’s subordinates. 291 292 293

Break with Folo

Luo Yan overhears Folo’s intention to use him as a pawn and learns that Folo had deliberately fostered his rise without becoming close. Feeling manipulated rather than respected, Luo Yan offers to help Folo eliminate the Sword-Bearers and become Eternal Chairman before retiring to a simple life with Royia. 312

Saint Qing Island and Later Pursuit
