History

Establishment under Ao Zhan

Ao Zhan, originally a dragon of the East Sea, sought refuge with the River of Sorrows and was appointed to govern Min River. The Min River Dragon Palace was comparatively new and lacked the deep roots of older Dragon Palaces, forcing Ao Zhan to recruit capable water deities and cultivate promising subordinates. 369 386 411

Ao Zhan’s family history also shaped Min River’s strained relationship with Wu River. During his conflict with the East and West Sea Dragon Palaces, Ao Zhan entrusted his pregnant wife to the Wu River Dragon Palace. Ao Le was born there and suffered mistreatment from Wu River’s princes before being brought back to Min River. 365 386

Recruitment of Guangyuan

The Dragon Palace searched for a son-in-law with extraordinary fortune. General Lan Feihu discovered Lu Qingfeng and brought him to the palace, where the Fortune-Illuminating Mirror revealed rare blue fortune associated with the potential to reach the Fifth Realm. Lu Qingfeng became Ao Le’s husband and Min River’s prince consort. 364 365

After Lu Qingfeng reached the Soul Condensation Realm, Ao Zhan named him fourth-rank Yuan Lake Water Lord, granted him three thousand naval troops, and authorized him to select Lan Feihu and Yuan Bi as his generals. 368 369

Yuan Lake Expansion

Under Guangyuan, Min River extended its influence through Yuan Lake. Forty-eight officers trained the aquatic tribes and mountain spirits of the Changshan Archipelago, while the Dragon Palace supplied troops, provisions, cultivation methods, and rare treasures. 371 372 373

The Dragon Palace’s support was not unlimited: Guangyuan’s personal cultivation, troop training, water-palace construction, and the Heavenly Nether Strategy all required immense resources. 371

South Pass Conflict

Min River’s rivalry with the Yuan-you Divine Communion Palace and the Nine Luminaries Inferno Sect intensified around Yuan Lake. Guangyuan used the dispute over Sword Venerable Tianxin’s cave abode to make outsiders appear responsible for stealing its inheritance, while allowing Yuan Lake and Luo Fuzi to demonstrate their strength. 380 381

The affair escalated into a three-day battle between Ao Zhan and Daoist Xuanjue of the Yuan-you Divine Communion Palace. Under Luo Fuzi’s protection, Yuan Lake then expanded across a hundred thousand li and experienced a century of peace. 381

Loss of Yuan Lake and Demotion

Guangyuan later flooded Pei Zhi’s seven armies in retaliation for repeated provocations. Although the Dragon Palace shielded him from execution, it dismissed him as Yuan Lake Water Lord to settle the political and karmic consequences. 385

Ao Zhan’s position also declined. He was later identified as the former Min River Dragon Lord and Water Lord of Poison Dragon Pool, where he led River of Sorrows forces in a strategically contested region. 420
