Shouting About Bonds and Getting Sent Flying
Seeing that Neville, though not fully formed, had already been summoned Patronus, Draco pursed his lips tightly.
His face still wore his usual smug expression, but a hint of barely perceptible panic lurked deep in his eyes.
After all, he didn't want to be outdone by Neville.
Being outdone by others is one thing, but being outdone by this chubby little guy...
Do I, young master Malfoy, still have any dignity left?
Draco's first thought was of the first time his father took him to watch Quidditch professional team practice, when he tried to summon the Patronus of a noble creature, but his wand only emitted a few wisps of thin, silvery mist, like cheap silk.
"Pure-blood glory?"
The thought flashed through my mind, but it couldn't ignite enough warmth.
He tried to recall the moment he had crushed Ron in Potions Class, but it only made things worse; an Grim dark light even flashed across the tip of his wand.
He shook his head irritably, and finally, an unexpected image appeared in his mind: when he was very young, his mother was reading him a moving fairy tale book in the garden, the warm sunlight shining on him—
He instinctively waved his wand, and a clear, steady beam of silver light shot out, more solid than ever before, though it was not yet fully formed.
Draco was secretly delighted.
Then, he recalled the little flying broom his parents had given him when he was a child, and the scene of him riding on it and playing.
Suddenly, a clearer and more stable silver sphere burst forth from the tip of his wand. Then, the ball of light hopped a couple of steps in place, like some kind of magic egg.
"Look, Malfoy has summoned a ball!" Ron said, pointing at Draco's Patronus with a laugh.
Then he saw the guardian ball rushing towards him and slamming into him.
It didn't cause any real harm, but it was extremely insulting.
"Very good." Harry clapped at the opportune moment and said, "Well done, Draco —you're almost there! You're only halfway there. When your Patronus Charm can conjure animal forms, that'll mean you've truly succeeded!"
"Is that so?" Draco raised his chin, looking at Ron with an air of pride, then secretly glanced at Ginny, who was deep in thought.
When he realized Ginny wasn't looking at him, a barely perceptible hint of disappointment flashed across his face, but he quickly masked it.
"Come on, let's continue," Harry said, clapping his hands. "Don't forget, it's almost time for you to deal with the Dementor!"
The Dementor floating beside him let out a silent roar, filled with resentment and reluctance.
"Shut up!" Harry yelled, turning around.
The Dementor shrank back, looking rather aggrieved.
Why are you yelling so loudly?!
Harry looked at Luna, who was deep in thought. He noticed that she didn't seem to be "searching" for memories with her eyes closed; instead, she was just opening her slightly hazy eyes and waving her wand casually, as if shooing away unseen flying insects.
Instead of chanting incantations, she softly hummed an off-key song.
Surprisingly, a silvery halo, like moonlight, began to emanate from the tip of her wand. This halo slowly spread, and although it had no fixed shape, it exuded a strange and reassuring tranquility.
Her methods were incomprehensible to others, but they seemed to be very effective.
Then, the halo trembled for a moment and transformed into a small, silvery-white rabbit that darted around in mid-air.
"Ah, how beautiful." Luna's ethereal voice rang out as she happily watched the little rabbit running around in the sky, controlling it to run this way and that way.
As you pass the Dementor, you can see it Dementor lean back, trying not to touch the little rabbit.
"Well done, Luna!" Harry applauded Luna without holding back.
Luna smiled sweetly and continued to control the rabbit as it ran back and forth.
Not far away, Ginny was still deep in thought with her eyes closed. She was stubborn, but this Charms was that the more stubborn a person was, the more likely they were to get stuck in a rut.
"Relax, Ginny," Harry said, clapping his hands. "Don't get stuck on this. Relax, you can do it. Try to recall your happiest memories!"
Ginny suddenly recalled the times she and her brothers would catch Goblin in the garden at home—her most carefree and happiest childhood.
"Epecto Patronum (Patronus Charm)!"
Suddenly, a silvery-white light shot out from the tip of her wand. The light moved erratically, and a small bird could be vaguely seen struggling to hatch.
Hannah, on the other hand, relied more on the encouragement of her companions. With their help, she tried to recall the warm evening she spent with her friends in the Hufflepuff Common Room. Her Patronus appeared as a blurry, warm, silvery ball of light, which, though intangible, exuded a comforting aura.
When everyone was almost able to successfully cast Patronus Charm (though it wasn't quite fully formed yet), Harry told them to rest and continue practicing for a while longer.
Time was drawing to a close, and as the clock struck 9:30, Harry cleared his throat.
"It's almost time!"
Upon hearing Harry's words, everyone involuntarily shuddered.
The students' hearts were in their throats. They exchanged tense glances and dragged their slightly weak legs to the circles marked by magic in the center of the classroom.
Hermione and Ron are in one group, Luna and Neville are in another, Ginny and Draco are in another, Pansy and Seamus are in another, and Hannah and Ernie, the Hufflepuff duo, are in the same group.
Harry walked up to the Dementor that was floating in place. The Dementor had initially looked unusually docile, but it suddenly changed as Harry approached.
It wasn't aimed at Harry, but rather seemed to sense that the feast was about to begin, and began to stir restlessly, emanating an even stronger, suffocating chill of despair, its rotting cloak fluttering even without wind.
"Come on," Harry glanced at them, "Who wants to go first? Oh right, me first."
A chilling sense of despair instantly gripped them.
Hermione's image of her perfect report card began to blur, replaced by the anxiety of studying all night before the 0. WL exam and the fear of never finishing memorizing all the items.
The silver mist at the tip of her wand fluctuated violently, almost dissipating.
"Ron!" she screamed, her voice Transfiguration by cold and fear.
Although it's early summer, white breath comes out of her mouth when she speaks.
Ron was in a worse situation; he felt as if he were back in the spider-infested Forbidden Forest, cold, damp, and helpless.
He desperately tried to grasp the joy of his Quidditch victory, but all he could think about was the embarrassing way he had fallen off the broom.
"I can't—" he whispered in despair and anguish, the silver light at the tip of his wand as faint as a candle flickering in the wind.
"Look at me, Ronald Weasley!" Hermione suddenly cried, abandoning her own support and grabbing Ron's arm. "How can we give up! We've overcome so many obstacles together! How can we lose to a little Dementor! Ron!"
Ron shuddered; the tension and excitement of that night, and the ecstasy of his final victory, broke through the ice like a warm current.
But most importantly, he sadly discovered that Hermione's roar was somewhat like his mother's—
There was no time to think, because Hermione was already pinching him.
He and Hermione exchanged a glance, and both focused their attention simultaneously.
"Epecto Patronum (Patronus Charm)!"
A thicker and more stable silver beam than ever before erupted from where the two wands met. Although it was still incomplete, it successfully held the approaching Dementor at bay by three meters, causing it to let out an angry, silent roar.
Dementor: I fucking don't know either! Those two were already about to give up, how come they suddenly started yelling about some kind of bond and they just launched me into the air!
"Well done, well done!" Harry clapped. "Looks like this is your high-energy combo, isn't it?"
After saying that, he gestured for the two of them to step back.
"Okay, next group." He looked at Luna and Neville's group behind him.
Upon seeing that, Harry immediately regretted his decision.
Given Luna's level Patronus Charm, she should be in a solo group, not paired with Neville.
Doesn't this seem a bit like a divine intervention?
However, since the allocation has already been made, it's not easy to change it.
With a command, the Dementor shook its head, regained its focus, and charged toward the two.
Luna waved her wand and summoned her little rabbit.
When the Dementor approached, the silver bunny did not attack Dementor, but instead nimbly hopped onto Neville's shoulder.
There was no fear in her large, hazy eyes as she continued humming an off-key song, as if the dark creation before her was merely a thick fog.
However, Neville's situation wasn't so easy.
He felt like he was back in Professor Snape's Potions Class, being openly mocked and at a loss for what to do.
As Professor Snape's expressionless face became clearer, the beam of his Patronus began to flicker.
"Don't worry, Neville," Luna's ethereal voice rang in his ear, "It's just wrapped up by lots and lots of mourning worms, which have made it very sad. Your Bowtruckle is warm, and they don't like warmth."
"Bowtruckle?" Neville looked blankly at his round, chubby Patronus- like form. "My Patronus is Bowtruckle?"
Then he thought of the Dueling Club, and how he could instruct others, and his courage returned.
"Epecto Patronum (Patronus Charm)!"
He roared, and the spherical Patronus shone brightly, rolling forward with it. Together with Luna's bouncy, serene silver rabbit, they forced the Dementor to retreat repeatedly.
"Beautiful!" Harry didn't hold back his praise. "A truly excellent Patronus Charm! It's still in its early stages, but it's certainly outstanding—if I were Professor X, I would definitely give Ravenclaw a bonus."
"I thought you were praising me," Neville said with a bitter face.
"Do you think your Charms are comparable to Luna's Patronus?" Harry asked, glancing sideways.
You know what, now that you mention it, Neville does realize where the gap lies.
"Next group." Harry looked at Ginny and Draco's group.
Ginny and Draco stepped forward, both instinctively tightening their grip on their wands.
Just kidding, bragging aside, how could they not be nervous if they were really facing Dementor?
You say you're not nervous?
Why don't you try it yourself?
"Are you ready?" Harry asked Draco.
Draco pursed his lips and remained silent.
"Ready?" Ginny answered for him, but her arm was trembling.
No other reason than that the Dementor pounced on her the moment she said she was ready.
"Epecto Patronum (Patronus Charm)!"
However, the Dementor had already pounced.
Suck!
This is its first taste of happiness today.
Suddenly, Ginny's carefree childhood memories of catching Goblin were transformed by the despairing impact of the Dementor into Goblin turned on them, baring their fangs and claws.
Her face turned deathly pale, and the struggling silver bird almost vanished.
Just as she was about to lose her composure, a steady and clear beam of silver light shot out from the side.
It's Draco!
The warm image of his mother reading fairy tales to him seemed unusually ingrained, and his Patronus stood firmly in front of Ginny, dispelling most of the chill.
Ginny glanced at Draco in surprise, but Draco awkwardly turned his head away, his ears turning slightly red.
But this unexpected support calmed her down. She took a deep breath and stood side by side with Draco. The two Patronus fought together against the Dementor, resulting in a stalemate.
"Go for it!" The surrounding classmates began to offer their support, especially Ron and Pansy, who shouted the loudest.
"Go for it, big sister with red hair!" Seamus shouted playfully.
Ginny clenched her fists, closed her eyes, and recalled her happiest memories once more.
After a moment, she raised her wand and met Draco's gaze, who happened to be looking over.
The two nodded in unison, and a beam of silvery-white light, as thick as a bowl, suddenly shot out like a laser cannon, blasting the Dementor to the wall.
Harry quickly stepped forward, took out a Dark Wizard from his purse, and urgently let the Dementor take a couple of breaths.
"Go and rest."
When the Dementor recovered, Harry told him to rest in the wallet and let a healthier one come up next.
There's nothing we can do; if he actively captured the Dementor, then being killed is just that—being killed.
But these Dementor are volunteers from Azkaban who came here to serve as teaching aids; we can't just let them die, can we? That would be too much.
Who will volunteer to serve as teaching aids in the future?
We must not do things like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs or draining the pond to catch all the fish!
Thinking about it this way, Harry felt it wasn't a safe bet, so he decided to catch some Dark Wizard to serve as tonics for these Dementor.
Or Muggle would be fine too; there's no shortage of vicious Muggle in Britain prisons, or maybe from Northern Europe.
He had heard that in Northern Europe, there was an overabundance of sanctified mothers who advocated for the abolition of the death penalty, and that humanoid creatures were kept in prisons.
Since it doesn't matter who they absorb, it's a win-win situation: the Dementor get some nourishment, and the Dementors get to punish evil.
