Appearance
After leaving the City of Slaughter, Tang San has long blood-red hair, blood-red eyes, and a heavy scent of blood that unsettles passersby 402.
- His eyes turn purple when he uses the special technique that allows him to identify Xiao Wu as a Shapeshifting Soul Beast 319.
- During Lan Qingli's extraction of his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, he is left blood-matted, unfocused, and unable to stand steadily 320.
Personality
Tang San is intensely proud, stubborn, and unwilling to accept inferiority. When Tang Ya defeats him with the same nominal Martial Soul, he continues fighting after being stripped of his ability to use Soul Skills and only surrenders after the thirty-sixth whip strike 135.
He is deeply attached to Xiao Wu and reacts desperately when the Titan Giant Ape carries her away, attacking a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast with ineffective Hidden Weapons and suffering severe injuries in the attempt 143. His devotion also leaves him vulnerable to emotional strain; concern for Xiao Wu is identified as a possible factor in his failed Soul Ring absorption 151.
Tang San can reassess his beliefs when presented with convincing evidence. Xu Hanfeng's writings make him question Yu Xiaogang's theories and his own Control System route, leading him to develop Blue Silver Grass as a Healing System and reserve the Clear Sky Hammer for offense 108 110.
Abilities & Skills
Blue Silver Grass
Tang San initially cultivates Blue Silver Grass as a Control System Martial Soul, using entanglement and poison. After Xu Hanfeng's criticism of that route, he shifts toward life and healing abilities 108 110.
- Uses Blue Silver Entangle to bind or rescue allies, though stronger plant Martial Souls can tear it apart 306.
- His first two Control System soul skills become largely ineffective after his change in direction 151.
- His third soul skill is a Healing System ability several times stronger than Oscar's first soul skill 184.
- Inherits Blue Silver Emperor bloodline through Ah Yin; Tang Xiao believes it could evolve into a Blue Silver King or Blue Silver Emperor 313.
- Tang Ya's Dark Blue Silver Grass causes his own Blue Silver Grass to wither on contact, exposing the difference in their Martial Souls 136.
- The bloodline and Martial Soul are later crippled by Lan Qingli 320 323.
Clear Sky Hammer
Tang San possesses the Clear Sky Hammer as his second Martial Soul and views it as the offensive half of his cultivation path 110 312.
- Retains the hammer after changing Blue Silver Grass to the Healing System 110.
- Cannot readily summon it while suffering backlash from the loss of his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline 326.
- Absorbs its two yellow and one purple Soul Rings when his Soul Power begins to drain in the empty Blue Silver Forest 334.
Tang Sect Techniques and Hidden Weapons
Tang San possesses martial arts from his previous life, including the Mysterious Heaven Skill, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, and Hidden Weapons 108 306.
- Uses Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track for rapid movement in combat 306.
- Launches Hidden Weapons from the Twenty-Four Bridges Bright Moon Night 143.
- His Hidden Weapons fail to injure the Titan Giant Ape, which blocks them with its eyelids and body 143.
- His special eye technique allows him to see through Xiao Wu's Shapeshifting Soul Beast identity 319.
- After his bloodline is stripped, he cannot circulate the Mysterious Heaven Skill 326.
Asura Divine Power
After the City of Slaughter, Tang San's former Martial Souls are replaced by the Asura Sword, and he pursues divine trials to oppose Xu Hanfeng and the Spirit Hall Empire 402.
- Creates a dark-crimson killing domain that weakens the Angel God and Rakshasa God 459.
- Defends with the Asura Sword against simultaneous divine attacks 459.
- Condenses six phantom Asura Swords in an all-out attack, but they are destroyed by the Angel Sacred Sword and Rakshasa God's attack 459.
- His purported Asura Demon Sword and divine armor are revealed to be fraudulent, leaving him outmatched despite his newly acquired God King-level divine power 458 459.
Relationships
- Tang Hao — Father. Tang Hao watches over Tang San from the shadows and considers forcing Xu Hanfeng to assist Tang San's cultivation; he is later killed by Xu Hanfeng's side 108 137 150.
- Ah Yin — Tang San's deceased mother and the former Blue Silver Emperor. Tang Xiao confirms her identity, while Lan Qingli is a newly revived Blue Silver Emperor rather than the same individual 312 320.
- Lan Qingli — A reborn Blue Silver Emperor whom Tang San initially recognizes as familiar. She rejects any maternal connection and extracts his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline 320.
- Tang Xiao — Tang San's uncle and a protective family elder. He reveals Tang San's heritage and intervenes when Lan Qingli cripples his Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul 312 320.
- Yu Xiaogang — Teacher. Tang San loses confidence in Yu Xiaogang's theories but refuses to formally sever their master-disciple bond 108 110.
- Xiao Wu — Closest companion. Tang San risks his life trying to stop the Titan Giant Ape from taking her and later vows to rescue her from imprisonment 143 327.
- Tang Ya — Rival with a superficially identical Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul. Her Dark Blue Silver Grass overwhelms Tang San's, making her his direct nemesis in the arena 134 136.
- Xu Hanfeng — Principal adversary. Xu Hanfeng deliberately challenges Tang San's cultivation beliefs, engineers confrontations against him, and later attempts to cripple his Martial Soul 109 136 323.
- Asura God — Divine patron and manipulator. He preserves Tang San as a potential successor, directs him toward the Blue Silver Forest and City of Slaughter, then provides him with fake divine equipment 151 327 334 458 459.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Doubts about Blue Silver Grass
Tang San overhears discussions of Xu Hanfeng's book in Nuoding City and learns that its arguments directly challenge Yu Xiaogang's Ten Great Theories 107. The book's claim that ordinary Blue Silver Grass is better suited to life-healing than control shakes his faith in his chosen path, especially after its criticisms accurately describe his Martial Soul's poor toughness and declining long-range control 108.
Though he remains Yu Xiaogang's disciple, Tang San decides to pursue a Healing System route for Blue Silver Grass and eventually develop his Clear Sky Hammer as an Assault System Martial Soul 110.
Defeat by Tang Ya
In Suotuo City, Tang San faces Tang Ya in a deliberately arranged Blue Silver Grass-versus-Blue Silver Grass battle 134. Tang Ya's life-devouring Dark Blue Silver Grass, Soul Power-draining soul bone skill, poison, and superior control leave Tang San unable to fight back 135.
He refuses to surrender despite severe wounds, ultimately conceding only after the thirty-sixth strike of Tang Ya's sword-whip 135. Xu Hanfeng later explains that Tang Ya's Martial Soul differs fundamentally from Tang San's ordinary Blue Silver Grass 136.
Failed Soul Ring Absorption
After Xiao Wu's abduction by the Titan Giant Ape, Tang San tries to absorb a Life System Soul Beast's Soul Ring while emotionally strained 143 151. Sudden heart pain throws his Soul Power into chaos, destroys the Soul Ring, and severely damages his meridians 151.
He reaches Rank 30 but remains unable to obtain his third Soul Ring until his meridians recover 157. Later, he continues the Healing System path at Blue Tyrant Academy, where he remains a Soul Elder 206.
Loss of the Blue Silver Emperor Bloodline
Tang Xiao confirms Tang San's parentage and tells him that his Blue Silver Grass carries Blue Silver Emperor bloodline 312 313. During the tournament period, Lan Qingli strips that bloodline from him, crippling his Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul and leaving him severely injured 320 323.
The Asura God tells Tang San that the Blue Silver Forest can restore his bloodline and Martial Soul, prompting Tang San to swear revenge against Spirit Hall, Bibi Dong, and Xu Hanfeng 326 327. The forest is instead empty; as his Soul Power drains away, he consumes the Clear Sky Hammer's Soul Rings before an unknown force takes control of his body and sends him toward the City of Slaughter 334.
City of Slaughter and Divine Ascension
Tang San spends two years in the City of Slaughter, emerging with blood-red hair and eyes and wielding the Asura Sword in place of both former Martial Souls 402. Discovering that Spirit Hall has absorbed the Heaven Dou and Star Luo Empires, he resolves to complete his divine trials and become the Asura God before Xu Hanfeng can become a god first 402.
He eventually absorbs the Asura God's power and becomes a god, but the Kindness Goddess's faction immediately attacks him after recognizing that the Asura God has used him as a pawn 458. The Angel God and Rakshasa God overpower him; the revelation that his divine armor and artifact are fake drives him into fury before he is defeated and faints from humiliation 459.
