Take Dunn-Vesex and Shen-Jon, for example. They barely had any presence in the original story, so why did they shine so brightly and become important figures in my book? On one hand, it was due to the needs of the plot; on the other, it was because I fleshed out some settings that had not originally existed.
In the original story, Dunn-Vesex was merely one of the first Sector Governors appointed by the Galactic Empire, and he married Lila Blythex. Beyond that, he was mentioned only in passing. So why did he become the King of the North? For one thing, there was this line in the original story: "After Lila married Dunn, she used the new influence granted to her by the marriage to promote her own Star Destroyer program."
What did that mean? It meant Lila used Dunn's influence to vigorously promote the construction of Imperial-class Star Destroyers. That raised two questions. First, Imperial-class Star Destroyers had many problems, and the military knew it. Second, for something as major as procuring Imperial-class Star Destroyers in large quantities, was Dunn-Vesex's influence really that great?
So based on that, I concluded that Dunn-Vesex might have been an unseen big shot within the Imperial military. That was why he had the ability to make the military push forward with the deployment and procurement of Imperial-class Star Destroyers.
As for the settings of Dunn-Vesex being an obsessive wife-doter and a lolicon, those were admittedly a bit exaggerated. Lila Blythex's profile says she is very beautiful, but the data also says she is 1.5 meters tall... In the Star Wars world, which is based on a Western worldview, a height of 1.5 meters is practically dwarf-like. So calling him a lolicon is not unfair at all.
And why was he an obsessive wife-doter?
