Meanwhile, on the other side, Rhode seized the opportunity while Serie had the dragon pinned down, unleashing Plant Magic. Countless thick vines burst from the ground and shot into the sky, coiling around the dragon like giant pythons.
They actually managed to drag it down by force, allowing Norn and Som to launch their attacks.
The dragon began snapping the vines, and in just a few moments, the layers around its body started breaking apart one after another.
"Som! Now!"
The Dwarf warrior seized the moment and leaped, swinging his Battle Axe at the dragon's flank.
Clang!
The moment the axe met the dragon's skin, it rang out like steel striking steel. Looking closely, Som's blow had only left a faint white mark on the dragon's body.
"Damn, these scales are too hard!"
Som retreated in frustration.
No wonder dragon scales were the best material for armor—even unprocessed scales could block most attacks.
Norn followed up next, but he aimed for the wings the dragon relied on to fly. His sword struck and carved out a shallow wound.
Clearly, the dragon's wings lacked scale coverage, making their defense much weaker.
Rhode immediately noticed this and said to Serie, "Attack its wings!"
Hearing this, Serie condensed a spear of light in her palm.
The spear shot straight through the dragon's wing.
Serie's attack was obviously far stronger than Norn's. Caught off guard, the dragon's entire wing was pierced by the Light Lance, and the searing pain drove it to let out an even more deafening roar.
But a single Light Lance didn't completely cripple its flight. Still, now that they knew its weakness, things became much easier.
Norn and Som cooperated to stall, while Rhode and Serie focused on the main assault. Countless Light Arrows and a rain of arrows all flew toward the dragon's wings.
Even as the dragon desperately spewed blazing flames, it was useless. Its wings were covered in wounds, blood spattering the ground, and its body crashed down along with them.
But this didn't finish it off.
The battle continued.
The fallen dragon raised its head and roared at the sky.
It never imagined that one day it would suffer such severe injuries.
It had slaughtered countless weak creatures, destroyed who knows how many villages and tribes, and fought many beings in its time.
But being pushed to this point—this was a first.
All because of those two despicable mages.
Their magic was too peculiar. Whether it was the sky-filling Light Arrows or the magic barrier that could withstand its own Dragonfire, it had never seen anything like it.
The dragon stared fixedly at Rhode and Serie, its dense killing intent so palpable that even from a distance, the two could clearly sense it.
But Serie showed no sign of fear.
If she was afraid of mere dragons, how could she ever go on to kill a god?
The dragon shifted its mountain-like body, radiating a scorching red aura as it charged at them.
"So you're pulling the dragon-charge trick, huh?"
Rhode cursed under his breath and cast a magic barrier, hoping to pull off a dragon-stop maneuver.
But the barrier that could normally withstand Dragonfire now shattered like paper.
The moment it touched the dragon's body, it broke apart.
Seeing this, Rhode's eyes widened in shock. He hoisted Serie up again and ran for his life.
Norn and Som hurriedly dodged as well, but they were still knocked to the ground by the blazing shockwave radiating from the dragon. Erik, arriving belatedly in the distance, saw this and immediately stopped in his tracks.
"It's a Mana Release State!"
Serie recognized the dragon's current special condition at a glance. She had done something similar before—when she killed that Demon Race member and its Monster minions, she had fully released her own mana.
It seemed this dragon was using all its mana to boost its physical strength.
Watching the dragon, whose pupils had contracted into thin slits, Rhode said, "It's going all out."
The entire valley began to tremble with the dragon's charge, even sending rocks tumbling down.
The surrounding temperature rose noticeably as well.
Fine, fine, fine!
If it's going all out, so am I!
Rhode set Serie down. "Buy me some time."
Serie saw at once what Rhode was planning and said, "Your damage isn't enough. We'll do it together."
Long-standing understanding let them act in an instant.
An improved Defense Magic rose out of thin air. Combining their strength, they conjured a Barrier Wall ahead of them.
This Barrier Wall stood like the ancient Steel Great Wall, forcibly halting the dragon's charge.
But the Dragon was not about to take it lying down. It gathered its magic once more into its maw, and a torrent of flame poured forth—no longer mere flame, but something far more terrifying: a searing crimson magma.
Even the magic barrier began to show fine cracks under this breath.
Meanwhile, Rhode and Serie's magic was still charging.
The space around them was gradually being devoured by darkness—not all at once, but spreading slowly, a prolonged and lingering consumption.
"There's no time!"
Staring at the cracks in the barrier, Rhode grew anxious.
To secure a one-hit kill, he and Serie had to maximize the damage of this spell, which required more time.
But now, the time they had left was running thin.
Fortunately, they were a team.
He still had his companions!
Som and Norn charged in from the flanks, forcing the Dragon to halt its breath and turn its attention to the two of them.
But this, in turn, gave Erik an opening.
He swung a longsword identical to Norn's, leaping high and striking at the Dragon's neck.
A full-powered blow, combined with the fact that the Dragon's neck wasn't entirely covered in scales, actually managed to carve a deep wound.
The price, however, was that his longsword was completely ruined.
After all, both his and Norn's swords were ordinary weapons, far inferior to Som's specially enchanted Dwarf-crafted blade.
Hot Dragon blood sprayed from the neck wound. Reeling in pain, the Dragon jerked its head violently, sending Erik flying with a brutal impact.
Norn rushed forward to catch him, and the two tumbled across the ground in a heap.
And just then, Rhode and Serie's magic was complete.
The space around them had been entirely swallowed by darkness, their figures invisible from the outside. The Dragon seemed to sense a lethal threat, but before it could flee, a beam of light shot forth from the darkness.
It pierced straight through the Dragon's scale-protected chest.
Time seemed to freeze in that moment.
The Dragon's movements halted. It didn't even feel any pain, because the flesh and nerves around its chest had been completely seared away, along with its life force.
Then.
Boom!!!
The explosion of the Light Pillar began. The Dragon's body burst apart from the inside, countless burning fragments scattering in all directions.
And so, this Dragon—famous even in the Mythical era—was utterly slain.
