Turning the pages of the book in her hand, Miss Bai smiled faintly. "I simply enjoy watching excitement. When have I ever stuck my nose into it?"
The Eerie Mother's face twisted hideously, the crack in her neck exceptionally conspicuous. "That brat's scent is in your room. You've hidden him!"
The Eerie Father was abnormally tall, his head wrapped in blood-seeping bandages. In place of his eyes were two bloody, mangled sockets. "That brat hurt my wife, Miss Bai. Don't get involved."
"We're neighbors on the same floor. Don't make things too ugly between us. He's just a rat from outside."
"You wouldn't side with an outsider over your neighbors, would you?"
The Eerie Couple was notoriously overbearing in Crimson Apartment.
Even so, they were somewhat wary of Miss Bai from Room 801.
After all, this woman had moved directly into the most "ominous" Room 801 when she first came to Crimson Apartment.

In the entryway, the Eerie Child squatted there, playing with two shriveled heads the size of coconuts.
"Kid, how about Uncle takes you somewhere fun?" Ji Yan stared at that torn, bloody face and tried to speak gently.
Xiao Xiao, the Eerie Child, looked at Ji Yan's face, her eyes filled with stars. "Uncle, your face is so pretty."
"Can Uncle take it off and put it over Xiao Xiao's ball?"
Xiao Xiao held up one of the shriveled heads, her entirely black eye sockets filled with innocent naivety.
"Come with Uncle first. Once we get there, Uncle will take it off for you."
Xiao Xiao tilted her head. "I want it now."
"Be good. Uncle will take you somewhere with balls like this everywhere."
Ji Yan reached out and stroked her round little head.
Honestly, aside from looking creepy, eerie children were rather cute.
Sure enough, cuteness in childhood knew no species.
But the next second, Ji Yan rejected that thought.
Xiao Xiao grabbed Ji Yan's hand instead, baring a creepy smile. "I'm not going. Dad said never to trust anything strangers say."
"If I cry, Dad will come right away. When Dad comes, he'll help me peel your face off!"
"Whatever I want, he gives me. He loves me the most!"
As she spoke, Xiao Xiao opened her mouth, about to burst into loud tears.
"Don't cry. Uncle has a treasure for you. You'll definitely like it!"
"What is it?"
Xiao Xiao thought she had frightened him, but Ji Yan immediately pulled out the Spike Hammer and swung it at her head with all his strength.
The blow failed to knock her out. Instead, she clutched her head and cried even louder.

Cracks spread across her head. After the two blows, Xiao Xiao collapsed and fell into a deep sleep, and the Game Panel appeared.
The player used an Eerie Weapon to damage the Eerie Child, reducing her health by 75. The Eerie Weapon Spike Hammer gained 20 toughness!
Ji Yan put away the hammer. He could not hit her again—if the Eerie Child died, the plan would fall apart.
Ji Yan grabbed the Eerie Child and ran toward one end of the corridor.
But because the Eerie Child had still cried out, the Eerie Couple in Room 804 immediately noticed.
Having failed to find Ji Yan anywhere in the room, they instantly understood what had happened.
They glared furiously at Miss Bai, their terrifying aura seeming ready to tear her apart. "Bitch! You and that stinking rat have been playing us?"

Miss Bai closed her book and looked at the Eerie Couple. The eyes beneath her tear mole gleamed with icy light.
The Eerie Couple gritted their teeth, yet they did not dare to lash out. They could only leave quickly and search for their precious child first.

Beside the water tank, the Twin Sisters saw Ji Yan finally return and hurriedly asked, "How did it go? Did those eerie parents come?"
Ji Yan shook his head. "The parents didn't come. I brought their child instead."
He held the unconscious Eerie Child in his hand.
The younger sister blankly asked, "Why did you bring their child up here?"
The older sister's expression changed. "Are you crazy? This will make them go berserk!"
Those were residents from the eighth floor!
"This is the quickest and most effective way to make them come up."
Ji Yan walked over and pushed open the Cement cover of the water tank. Inside the pitch-black interior, a pair of pale white eyes opened, brimming with intense resentment. "You dare come back!"
Apparently, she still held a grudge over the blow from Ji Yan's Spike Hammer earlier.
"Don't be angry. I brought one of your family members up. See who it is."
With that, Ji Yan tossed the Eerie Child into the water tank and immediately covered it with the Cement slab.
He jumped down, dusted off his hands, and turned to the dumbfounded Twin Sisters. "There. Mission complete."
The older sister stared in disbelief. "Wait, you knocked out their little brother and threw him in there, and that completes the mission?"
Ji Yan checked the time. "Don't rush. Wait."
"Wait for what?"
"Wait for the berserk Eerie Couple from Room 804 to come up and tear us apart."
