The Arrogant Xandarians
Inside the Sakaar laboratory.
Nebula stripped naked and lay down on the experimental table.
However, she showed no embarrassment whatsoever; instead, she looked at Ben had suddenly transformed into a frog-like creature, with some surprise.
"This is your true form?"
Nebula asked.
Ben stared at the analysis of the Nebula's body structure displayed on the computer screen. The virtual graphics dissected her layer by layer, revealing almost all her secrets to Ben.
"This is just one of many ways I am," Ben said softly.
He ignored Nebula's offense.
As he transformed into Grey Matter more and more often, he became more rational, and even began to develop in the direction of Azmuth.
Although the Grey Matter may not be as smart as Azmuth, since they are the healthiest individuals, their intelligence cannot be too bad.
"You do indeed have a Thanos within you."
He said, "That's why your sister Gamora was able to find you so easily."
"You may seem to have betrayed him and left him, but in reality, you've always been under his surveillance."
The more Ben spoke, the more desolate Nebula felt.
She said dejectedly, "It's always been like this. I'm nothing but his tool. If he truly loved me, I wouldn't be like this now."
Nebula gestured to show off his own body.
About 35 percent of her body has been replaced with machinery.
Even the most cruel father wouldn't do such a thing.
But Thanos would.
Ben didn't say anything about this.
After all, Thanos's thinking is different from ordinary people. He admitted that he had a preference for Gamora, but he never said that he didn't love Nebula at all.
Most importantly, he showed no mercy even when modifying himself, so it's possible that he genuinely believed everything he did was for Nebula's good.
"Could you please help me thwart his backup plan?"
Nebula pleaded.
"I will do it without you telling me."
Ben jumped onto the test table; he was only slightly larger than Nebula's head, and even his eyes looked a little vacant.
"I have two treatment options for you. The first is that I can replace the mechanical parts in your body, and even install more advanced equipment."
Ben said.
He wasn't just making things up.
The Korbin People ' modification technology greatly inspired him; the guardians of their Giant Battleship could even rival Nebula, making them far superior to Thor.
Are there any other options?
Nebula asked curiously.
To be honest, she was already very happy when Ben told her that she could get a new set of equipment.
If she could become stronger, perhaps she could actually defeat Gamora once and make Thanos take notice.
If it could really be achieved, Nebula would be willing to replace all her flesh and blood with machines.
What is the other option?
"Remove these mechanical parts, and then let you become yourself again."
Ben said.
Nebula was stunned for a moment.
"What did you say..."
"I mean, you can do that with Primus ' healing serum. You should be glad that Thanos didn't affect your vital organs when he modified you, otherwise the Self-Healing Serum wouldn't have been useful."
Based on the examination results, the parts of Nebula that were modified were mostly her torso and limbs, with only a small part of her head being an exception.
As for that part, apart from the eyes being a bit difficult to treat, there's not much else to worry about.
"However, I need to use your genes for compatibility testing first. Current Self-Healing Serum are generally ineffective against races other than Earthlings."
Genetic matching needs to be performed in advance, which is a major reason why Self-Healing Serum has not been widely used in Sakaar.
The races here are too diverse. In addition to the two native Sakaar races, there are countless other alien species that came to this world from the Great Portal.
Furthermore, there is a local spring here that can heal injuries, so the need for Self-Healing Serum is not very high.
"Back to myself..."
Ben had no idea how shocking everything he said was to Nebula.
Ever since she was first transformed by Thanos when she was young, she has cried countless times while holding her cold body, until she became completely numb.
Now, Ben's words seem to have reignited a flame in Nebula's cold life, bringing her back to life after she died young.
"Can you really do it?"
She asked cautiously, as if worried about disturbing the dream.
"It's up to you. If you want to replace the parts, that's fine too. I'll become Brainstorm and guarantee there won't be any mistakes."
Nebula shook her head frantically. "No, don't modify it!"
"Then let's stick with the Grey Matter."
Ben said nothing more and began genetic matching with Nebula.
Next, he removed most of Nebula's parts, stuffed a respirator into her mouth, and threw her into a treatment pod.
Looking at the Nebula immersed in the treatment chamber, Ben thought to himself, "If only we had Vilgax's technology."
That guy had most of his body blown off, but he was still able to recover in the recovery ward. Although the process took a little longer, the effect was even stronger than Self-Healing Serum.
Meanwhile, on Xandar.
Steve and his team, however, ran into trouble.
They originally came seeking cooperation with Xandar, hoping to join forces with the Nova Corps in the name of the Galactic Plumbers to resist Thanos and the Accusers's army.
However, the Nova Corps seemed to disregard their warnings.
"Sakaar? The Galactic Plumbers?"
The Centurion Director shook his head dismissively.
He had never even heard of this planet or organization; it was truly astonishing that so many people dared to act so presumptuously in front of them.
It's important to understand that while Xandar isn't revered as one of the Three Great Empires like the Kree Empire, its ability to fight the Kree Empire for so long without falling is enough to demonstrate Xandar's strength.
However, despite their inward contempt for Sakaar, Queen Adora and the Centurion Director did not openly show it.
They did receive Steve and his group, but they dismissed the crisis they spoke of.
After gesturing for Caiera to sit down, Queen Adora calmly stated, "A peace treaty has been signed between Xandar and the Kree Empire, Accusers' army would never attack us."
Caiera said calmly, "Ronan, the leader of the Accuser Corps, lost his parents in the war against Xandar. He doesn't fight for the Kree Empire, but for hatred."
What peace treaty?
That kind of thing has absolutely no binding force.
"He wouldn't dare do that," said the Centurion Director.
He knew, of course, that the so-called peace treaty was like paper handcuffs, easily torn apart, but the Kree could not afford the cost of tearing it apart.
Otherwise, why don't they just attack and conquer Xandar?
Is it because you don't want to?
Of course, it's because if the Kree Empire were to get into war again, it would become very passive. They might win in the end, but it would only be a Pyrrhic victory.
Not to mention, who knows if the Shi'ar Empire and the Skrull Empire might interfere?
The Greenskin Skrull, in particular, have a long-standing Contradiction with the Kree.
Although the war is practically over now, they probably wouldn't refuse the opportunity to give a good beating to a dog that's down on its luck.
"The Kree wouldn't dare, but Thanos would!"
Steve said.
However, even bringing up Thanos couldn't persuade the Xandarian.
"If Thanos and his Black Order dare to invade Xandar, our Nova Corps will naturally deal with them," the Centurion Director said proudly and arrogantly.
The Nova Corps is extremely powerful.
Although the total number is only about five hundred, they all possess the Nova Force, a power allocated to them by a supercomputer on Xandar called Worldmind.
The Nova Force is virtually inexhaustible, enabling the Nova Corps to defeat countless powerful enemies.
In the previous war against the Kree, it was the Nova Corps that played a significant role in preventing Xandar from being defeated.
"In any case, we are grateful that you have come all the way from Sakaar to warn us to be careful," Adora said, but her expression was full of politeness.
This is understandable, given that Sakaar is not well-known in the universe and its words are not taken seriously.
Steve felt helpless, the Winter Soldier was a little annoyed, but Caiera remained calm.
She knew this would happen.
Because Ben had told her from the beginning that the trip wouldn't go so smoothly.
But that's okay. You won't listen to me now, but when we need Sakaar's help, it'll be a different story.
Therefore, Caiera was not displeased at all; on the contrary, she was looking forward to what would happen next.
Furthermore, she was also very interested in the super-intelligent computer called Worldmind and the Nova Force on Xandar. If the Galactic Plumbers could also master the so-called Nova Force, then the power of Plumbers would also be enhanced.
Of course, it's virtually impossible to get Xandar to relinquish this power.
After all, the Nova Force is something they rely on for survival. Even if all the Xandarian were wiped out, they would probably fight to the death.
Moreover, the Nova Corps is also a force that maintains cosmic peace, and Caiera has no intention of taking it by force.
No problem. She believed that sooner or later, Sakaar King would develop the Old Power to a similar level, and that would be the true power representing the Sakaar.
"If you don't mind, you can stay on Xandar for a while longer and experience its Xandar charm."
Queen Adora, though seemingly welcoming, was actually issuing an order to leave, asking them all to leave the palace.
However, they also kept a Mind's Eye, began to investigate Thanos and Ronan's movements, and summoned back all the Nova members who were on missions in the universe.
Soon, they learned for certain that what Caiera and the others had said was true: Thanos's Sanctuary and the Accusers's Dark Aster were approaching.
Even so, they never considered cooperating with Sakaar.
