Background / History

Ben is Peter Parker's adopted cousin; Ben and May took him in before Peter was later entrusted to them by Richard and Mary Parker. Although he has no blood relation to Peter's parents, he considers protecting Uncle Ben and Aunt May his foremost responsibility. 3

After Peter gains spider powers, Ben deliberately seeks power of his own to avert the losses he associates with Spider-Man's life. He keeps the Omnitrix secret, not out of distrust of Peter, but to prevent S.H.I.E.L.D. or other organizations from pursuing the device. 1 3 15

Rather than investigating their mutations alongside Peter, Ben prioritizes financial security for their family.
