"I suggest you find yourself a girlfriend soon. That way, you won't need me to treat your wounds next time."
Benny put away the first-aid kit, then tossed the blood-soaked cotton balls into the trash.
"I want to, but Liz doesn't even see me that way."
"Do you have to keep thinking about Liz?" Benny asked, handing Peter a vial. "This is the antidote to the Lizard Serum."
"Thanks. Too bad I let the doctor get away," Peter said regretfully.
"You didn't let him get away. You barely managed to escape with your life," Benny corrected, shaking his head. Seeing the embarrassed expression on Peter's face, he added,
"That was me putting it nicely."
Peter lowered his head dejectedly. "You're right. I really wasn't a match for him."
"Maybe your superpowers haven't fully developed yet," Benny said. "Either way, we need to find them as soon as possible."
Peter nodded in agreement, but then a startled look appeared on his face.
"Them?"
"Someone even crazier than Connors." Benny did not elaborate.
Meanwhile, in the sewers.
Lizard, who had just fought fiercely with Peter, was furious.
Letting that irritating little bug escape had been a mistake, but fortunately, he had not come away empty-handed.
Lizard followed the webbing along the sewer pipes and finally found a clue at the junction of several pipes—a worn-out camera.
He reached out with his claws, tore the camera off the wall, and examined it. Then he noticed a name engraved on its back.
"Peter... Parker?"
Lizard's voice was filled with surprise and cruelty.
He had never expected Spider-Man to be Peter.
Connors had always valued Peter's talent, especially after Peter helped him solve the half-life formula. That was when he realized Peter was a genius.
Even though he had now become a Lizard Man, he was still astonished by Peter's intelligence.
He had originally intended to share the serum's blessing with Peter, but it seemed that was no longer necessary. No matter how much he admired him, anyone who dared interfere with his plans would not be spared.
At that moment, only one thought remained in Connors's mind—
Kill Peter Parker!
The next day.
Benny unusually went to school with Peter.
"Osborn Tower has been sealed off, and Norman Osborn has yet to make a public appearance."
As they walked, Peter looked down at the day's news.
He frowned worriedly, then looked at Benny in confusion. "Osborn Tower has been sealed off? What happened?"
Benny had gone to Osborn Tower last night to make the antidote. If anything had happened, he would certainly know best.
"Don't you already know?" Benny asked in a lowered voice.
"You mean that other mad scientist?" Peter asked, looking incredulous. "You only said you fought the monsters he created. You didn't say you nearly tore down the whole tower!"
Benny spread his hands and offered no explanation.
"I wonder whether this will affect Harry." Peter was somewhat worried about his good friend.
Something this serious happening to Osborn Corporation would naturally affect Harry.
The most obvious sign was that Harry had sent Benny a message saying he would not be able to go with him that weekend to choose a site for the company and purchase materials and equipment for the laboratory.
Benny naturally understood.
No matter what, this was a massive scandal for Osborn Corporation.
Norman Osborn might get kicked out by the Board of Directors at the drop of a hat, but he was still Osborn's founder and largest shareholder. At a time like this, it was naturally best for him to stay out of the public eye.
The only question was whether this would cause Norman to lose even more control over Osborn Corporation.
In fact.
At that very moment, Norman wore a rare expression of ease and delight in the Osborn residence.
He happily opened a bottle of champagne and walked to the dining table with a glowing face, even intending to pour some for Harry.
"I forgot. You're not old enough to drink yet."
With that, Norman sat down again, loosened his tie, and elegantly took a sip.
Unlike Norman's state of mind, Harry had never seen his stern father looking so relaxed and pleased. Behind that happiness, there even seemed to be a destructive madness.
"Dad, something this serious happened to the company. Aren't you worried at all?"
In Harry's view, his father should at least hold a press conference and give the public a reasonable explanation, so that Osborn Corporation's stock price would not continue to fall.
Yet from the moment he received the news, he had acted as if he did not care at all, allowing the incident to rapidly escalate. He had even refused every call from the other members of the Board of Directors.
"Why should I be worried?" Norman asked.
He was in a good mood, so he gave Harry more smiles and patience than usual. "You can't see the situation clearly at all. That's why I worry about you."
"I don't understand."
"It's very simple, Harry." Norman ate a small piece of steak, wiped his mouth, then said, "I only need to worry when I am about to lose something. But what if that thing was never mine to begin with?"
"But Osborn Corporation was founded by you. If it doesn't belong to you, then who does it belong to?" Harry still did not understand.
His father clearly held the largest share of stock, yet he said the company did not belong to him.
Norman merely smiled without answering.
What Harry did not know was that while Norman did hold the largest stake, it was not an absolute controlling stake. The members of the Board of Directors had long since joined forces and stripped him of real power.
The Osborn of today was no longer the Osborn of the past.
Thinking of this, Norman sneered coldly to himself.
Those vampires wanted to take his company from him. How could he possibly let them succeed?
"You want to force me out? Then none of us gets to play!"
Norman had actually wanted to flip the table long ago. This attack on Osborn Tower had instead worked perfectly in his favor.
Difficult to handle?
Then none of them would handle it!
However, Norman seemed to think of something. He took a sip of wine and said to Harry,
"Contact Benny. Tell him to get Primus Technology ready as soon as possible. Once Osborn Corporation's stock price falls to its lowest point, I'll provide the money and have him help me buy up the company's shares."
Norman did not expect to regain complete control of Osborn. In truth, he knew very well that the current Osborn had serious problems. Even if he bought it back, its stock price would struggle to return to its former level.
It might not be a losing deal, but the profits would be limited.
Still, Osborn Corporation was Norman's life's work. He had put more effort into the company than he had into his own son. If there was truly a chance to save it, he still wanted to reclaim Osborn Corporation.
He would not make Benny bear the risk. He intended to use his own money, and borrowing Primus Technology's name was merely to avoid attracting attention.
Harry nodded.
He could not understand all those twists and turns, but at least he could follow his father's instructions.
