History

Early sect structure

Ziyang Sect accepted Shen Hao after testing him as having Three Spiritual Roots and low-grade talent, assigning him as an Outer Sect disciple with a gray robe, wooden token, room, and the Ziyang Outer Sect Basic Qi Cultivation Art 1. At that time, it was described as one of the foremost sects in the southern Eastern Profound Continent, with thousands of Outer Sect disciples, hundreds of Inner Sect disciples, and exceptionally rare Core Disciples 1.

The sect maintained a promotion system in which Outer Sect disciples competed for Inner Sect entry through cultivation, sword-art, and combat assessments; the top 100 in the preliminary selection qualified for advancement 13. Successful Inner Sect disciples received blue robes, jade tokens, storage pouches, spirit stones, Body Tempering Pills, and the Ziyang Inner Sect Basic Qi Cultivation Art, then resided on Qingyun Peak 33.

Rise through Shen Hao's achievements

Shen Hao won the Personal Disciple assessment and became True Man Zi Xuan's Personal Disciple, while Zhou Xuan and Su Mei became Personal Disciples of the Grand Elder and Second Elder respectively 90. Zi Xuan subsequently granted Shen Hao the top-grade Ziyang Sky Burning Art, a Foundation Establishment Pill, and access to the Spirit Gathering Array at Ziyang Pavilion 91.

Ziyang Sect's victory over Black Wind Valley secured ownership of a Spirit Mine and brought public recognition to the sect 99. When the Devil Race of Myriad Demon Valley targeted that mine, the sect organized the Cultivation Alliance; thirteen sects ultimately joined, forming a five-thousand-person united army led by True Man Zi Xuan 101 103.

Following the Spirit Mine battle, the sect promoted Shen Hao to Chief Guardian and awarded him the Ziyang Divine Sword, one hundred Heart Nurturing Pills, and unrestricted access to the Scripture Repository 111.

Destruction, recovery, and expansion

The Netherworld Hall and Black Fiend Cult later attacked in pursuit of the Heaven and Earth Cauldron, leaving Ziyang Sect's gates ruined, dozens of disciples dead, hundreds severely wounded, and several halls destroyed 122 130 133. During reconstruction, Shen Hao combined the Myriad Swords Demon Slaying Array with the Xuantian Sword Array to create the Zi Xuan Demon Slaying Array 133.

The sect's prestige increased after Shen Hao and ten Core Disciples returned from the Zi Xiao Mystic Realm with sword inheritances, powerful swords, and major cultivation gains 148 149. It subsequently attracted envoys from major sects and Rogue Cultivators seeking admission, while Zi Xuan began expanding its scale, formalizing disciple ranks, and concentrating resources on promising disciples 134.

Shen Hao and Lin Feng's first- and second-place finishes at the Xuantian Sect Sword Dao Tournament elevated Ziyang Sect from an obscure minor sect to one recognized across the Cultivation World 160 161. Shen Hao later taught the Core Disciples the Myriad Laws Return to One Sword Manual, strengthening the sect's sword-dao foundation 163.

Later conflicts

Ziyang Sect survived the Shadow Fiend Sect's assault, though the battle caused extensive casualties and damage to its mountain gate 175 177 180. It then openly recruited hundreds of Rogue Cultivators, including Core Formation cultivators such as Tie Shan, assigning newcomers to patrol, instruction, and elder roles 186.

The sect later defeated the Righteous Path Alliance despite facing forces from the Qingyun Sect, Xuantian Sect, Liehuo Sect, and other major sects 186 192. This victory spread Ziyang Sect's name throughout the Cultivation World and drew further envoys seeking relations 192 195.

After the Youming Sect targeted Shen Hao's Eternal Sword Art and Nine Profound Swords, Ziyang Sect chose to resist as one rather than surrender its heritage 210 211. Ten years later, the sect remained Shen Hao's home, with Daoist Qingxu serving as Sect Master 262.
