"Use spears, use spears, get some shields!"
Havent stabbed his longsword into the Wind Wolf's neck, successfully rescuing the mercenary who had been bitten. The pained Wind Wolf staggered but then glared at Havent with ferocious eyes.
Grabbing the severely injured mercenary's shoulder, he forcefully threw him to the ground behind him, then stood with his sword held in both hands, confronting the Wind Wolf. Ultimately, the Wind Wolf couldn't hold back, raising its neck, and a mass of cyan energy rapidly gathered in its maw.
Swish~ Swish~ Swish~
Three wind blades shot towards Havent, but having been prepared, Havent rolled to dodge the wind blade attack and quickly got back up.
After the Wind Wolf fired three consecutive wind blades, its spirit was noticeably weakened. Seeing this, Havent held his sword backhanded in his left hand, supporting his body with his right hand as he crouched on the ground, rapidly accumulating power in his legs.
"Forward Stomp Slash!"
A figure swiftly moved across the ground. The Wind Wolf only had time to let out a mournful cry before falling to the ground, its front and hind legs on the right side severed by Havent's strike.
Havent stood up, panting heavily. He was still struggling to use this complete mid-tier battle skill.
He scanned his surroundings. The other two Wind Wolves were also caught in the encirclement. Seeing that the situation was under control, he breathed a sigh of relief. He walked towards the Wind Wolf lying on the ground, continuously screaming, and raised his longsword, stabbing it fiercely towards the wolf's eye.
"Commander, the carriage is ready. The perimeter has been reinforced with shields."
Hearing his subordinate's report, Wells nodded. Two hours had passed since the wolf pack attack. The good news was that they had killed more than half of the wild wolves, but this news didn't bring him any joy. As far as Wells could see, everyone was injured.
"Aka, Batila, we're ready to depart. We can't delay any longer."
Wells glanced worriedly in the direction the Gale Mercenary Group was defending. The sound of continued fighting came from that direction, which slightly eased his mind.
Soon, the two group leaders arrived. Batila was fine; his profession was Shield Warrior, and his defensive capabilities were strong. He didn't have any major wounds yet. However, Aka looked much more miserable. As a dual-wielding Berserker, his attacks were swift, but he inevitably got injured. Whether it was from a wind blade attack or a bite, a ten-centimeter gash on his chest was continuously oozing blood.
"Aka, can you still fight?"
Wells asked the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group leader worriedly. After all, Death's Howl could command such a large wolf pack, so its level must be high. If Aka, the Berserker, were incapacitated, Wells and Batila would likely have difficulty dealing damage to Death's Howl.
Aka wiped the blood from his face and cursed, "Old Wells, I'm fine, don't worry!"
With that, he took out a black bottle from his waist pouch, uncorked it, and poured the ointment onto his wound.
"Let's go. It's a fast-acting hemostatic ointment I bought from Old Bigge. Damn expensive, but it really works."
Seeing that Aka was in a stable condition, Wells nodded and climbed onto the carriage.
"Let's go. I have a few Fire Essence Canisters I acquired. We'll throw them at the wolf pack later, and then we'll charge through during the explosion."
A group of fourteen people climbed onto two carriages, their faces showing a look of determination as they faced Death's Howl ahead.
Boom~ Boom~ Boom~
As the Fire Essence Canisters exploded among the wolf pack, the shaken wolves immediately fell into chaos. The two carriages charged directly towards Death's Howl in the center of the wolf pack.
The white giant wolf, which had been unleashing Furious Howl from the rear, saw the approaching carriages and displayed a human-like expression. Its scarlet eyes looked at the gradually nearing carriages and it raised its head, letting out a long howl.
The wolf pack that had been surrounding the white giant wolf seemed to have received a command. They quickly scattered and ran towards the camp.
Seeing the wolf pack avoiding the carriages and attacking the camp, a hint of urgency flashed across Wells's face. He then forced himself to calm down, staring fiercely at Death's Howl a few dozen meters away, silently chanting in his heart.
'Baki, you guys must hold on.'
In the blink of an eye, they were in front of Death's Howl. The group jumped off the carriages. Facing the three-meter-tall giant wolf, Aka roared, his body glowing with light red battle qi. He took a few running steps, leaped high, and swung his sword down towards the giant wolf's head.
Death's Howl looked at the human leaping high into the air, opened its mouth wide, and a wind blade rapidly condensed, shooting towards Aka.
Aka, who had activated Berserker's Blood, did not dodge the incoming wind blade. He swung his dual-wielding swords directly at it.
The collision of the two created a massive burst of energy. Aka, lacking leverage in mid-air, was sent flying backward.
Wells, who had rushed over from behind, caught the flying Aka.
"Don't go in alone. We'll go together. Let's finish it quickly. The camp can't hold on for much longer."
Aka nodded, steadied himself, and once again held his dual-wielding swords, facing the white giant wolf. The few of them exchanged glances.
"Let's go together!"
The moonlight was torn into shreds by the sword energy. Death's Howl swung its massive wolf claws, shattering Aka's Cross Slash. Batila raised his tower shield, reinforced with black iron, to block an incoming wind blade. Wells, who had circled around to the side, gathered battle qi into his left hand's small shield and struck Death's Howl's hind leg with a shield bash.
The giant wolf, in pain, turned and lunged at Wells. Unable to dodge completely, Wells could only shield his chest with his small shield before being sent flying. On the other side, a mercenary holding a spear saw this and thrust his spear towards the white giant wolf's chest.
Unexpectedly, he underestimated the toughness of Death's Howl's fur. The spear tip only managed to penetrate halfway. Before the mercenary could exert more force, the white giant wolf quickly turned its head and bit down on the mercenary's upper body. His head exploded like a watermelon, and large amounts of blood flowed from Death's Howl's mouth.
Seeing the tragic state of his subordinate, Batila roared. His arms, stimulated by battle qi, swelled significantly. He charged at the giant wolf with his shield raised.
With a loud thump, the unprepared Death's Howl was knocked to the ground by Batila's shield charge. Batila, subjected to the same force, was sent flying back seven or eight meters.
"Aka!"
Following Wells's roar, the Blood Wolf group leader, understanding his intent, took a few running steps and leaped again, slashing towards Death's Howl. At the same time, the mercenaries surrounding the giant wolf also raised their weapons and attacked.
"Awooooo~~~~"
Suffering a series of heavy blows, Death's Howl opened its mouth and randomly unleashed wind blades in all directions. Two mercenaries who couldn't dodge in time were engulfed in a mist of blood and fell to the ground.
Seeing the giant wolf about to get up, Wells, who had stabbed Death's Howl's backside several times, quickly dodged.
Everyone dispersed again, surrounding the giant wolf and preparing for their next attack.
The white giant wolf, now stained red with blood, glared fiercely at everyone. A meter-long gash on its shoulder was the result of Aka's leaping slash.
"Awooooo~~~~"
As Death's Howl let out a long roar to the sky, a large amount of black smoke-like substance drifted out from the giant wolf's wounds.
