Background / History

Serena was sent by her mother, Mysra, to investigate a source of magical pollution in a forest. An unprepared encounter with an Abyssal enemy left her defeated and exhausted, where she met Havent—then travelling under the name Will. Though she initially considered him too weak to accompany her, she accepted his help and began travelling with him. 54

Her investigation led to a corrupted magic tower and the Crow Hag’s Abyssal descent ritual. Serena’s magic became unstable around an unknown presence in the tower, and her connection to Mysra was later severed by a powerful interference. Once the threat was resolved, Mysra gave Serena no immediate new task; Serena chose to continue to the Imperial Capital with Havent in exchange for travelling together and eating good food. 56 59 63 64 69

Serena later departed to handle another pollution source, leaving Havent with a Heart Seal that enabled them to sense one another. She returned through a portal after completing the cleanup, explaining that the world’s limiting magic array had formerly halved her abilities but no longer affected her with Mysra’s assistance. Mysra subsequently instructed Serena to remain with Havent because an unspecified danger was approaching. 103 139 141

Her connection to Mysra is significant enough to draw the attention of Hermaeus Mora. Mora described Serena as an executor whose creator had added protections to her body after their previous encounter; Mysra directly intervened when Mora restricted Serena. 170 174

Appearance

Serena is a beautiful, silver-haired young girl with light purple or pale blue eyes. She commonly floats rather than walks and favors blue clothing, including a light-blue witch dress and white short cloak. 54 87 185

  • Silver hair, often described as long. 54 96
  • Light purple eyes; her eyes can glow blue-purple while using detection magic. 54 175
  • Often wears blue dresses or witch robes. 139 185
  • Has numerous magic patterns on her arms, including a heart-shaped Heart Seal. 193
  • Can manifest a pale-blue magical shield and a conspicuous magical aura while fighting. 63 96

Personality

Serena is direct, innocent, and poorly acquainted with ordinary human customs. Early in her journey with Havent, she does not understand common concepts such as scouting, phones, or even some everyday phrasing. Her limited contact with people before meeting him left her communication skills weak; when not assigned missions, she would quietly watch animals alone in the wilderness. 59 69 141

She is obedient toward Havent’s requests and intensely protective of him. His praise makes her visibly happy, while threats against him prompt a cold and ruthless change in demeanor. 62 96 97

Food is Serena’s strongest uncomplicated joy. She eagerly devours Havent’s cooking, particularly sweets, ice cream, bread, steak, and nougat. She interprets affection through wanting to remain with Havent and eat the food he makes. 56 97 155 222

Abilities & Skills

Immense Magic Power

Serena possesses overwhelming magical strength, described by observers as exceeding even an Archmage’s displayed pressure. Her abilities were once reduced by half by a limiting magic array, but Mysra removed that restriction. 96 97 141

  • Defeated multiple tower mages with ease and blasted open a stone door. 63
  • Held back the werewolf Xindin during the Bloody Wedding attack. 225
  • Her attacks can be excessively destructive; Havent sometimes specifically asks her to preserve bodies for investigation. 193
  • Her magic can become chaotic near certain Abyssal influences or when her connection to Mysra is disrupted. 59 64 69

Flight and Spatial Movement

Serena can fly freely, pass through walls, and use portals or teleportation.

  • Floats during combat, reconnaissance, and ordinary movement. 54 87 96
  • Passed directly through an inn wall. 87
  • Returned to Havent through an electrically crackling silver portal. 139

Telekinetic and Force Magic

  • Lifted and incapacitated three mages with a technique Havent compared to a far stronger Mage Hand. 63
  • Held Havent safely in mid-air after he was thrown by the Crow Hag’s attack. 64
  • Can create bubbles capable of carrying people or trapping them, including Princess Alice. 93 183

Elemental and Destructive Magic

Serena can employ varied elemental effects and high-output attacks.

  • Formed a powerful orange-red fireball while fighting the transformed Crow Hag. 64
  • Created a giant ice ball instead of a light orb when confronting a pursuing creature. 93
  • Used water magic to wash battlefield remains away and earth magic to restore collapsed ground. 97
  • Restrained Xindin with lightning-charged chains. 225
  • Can produce freezing magic for Havent’s ice cream. 97
