Background / History
Marigroyang was formerly a squad leader in the City Defense Patrol, where he developed connections that later helped him establish the Rotten Mushroom Tavern. He was known as a powerful gangster and intimidating local figure for more than a decade. 204
Years after opening the tavern, the Dark Alliance approached him. Initially, he was paid to watch local activity and submit regular reports; he later became an external intelligence operative for the organization’s Imperial Capital Station Number Three. Following his last mission, he had been promised formal membership. 204
By the time of the unrest around Side Shore Pier, Marigroyang’s old influence was visibly fading. He reflected on his age and declining authority, while local patrons still treated him with fear and deference. 168 202
Personality
Marigroyang maintained a fearsome, rough exterior, but could show practical compassion toward destitute patrons. When Badam could not pay for food, he refused credit but offered work to cover the meal instead. He was also troubled by rising prices and their effect on ordinary customers. 164
His later conduct reveals a more calculating and exploitative side. He recruited desperate men for dangerous work, including arson against the Hendry Merchant Guild’s warehouse, and ultimately handed Balam over to an unknown organization for money. 165 167
Under Havent’s interrogation, his intimidation collapsed into fear and desperation. He cooperated in hopes of securing protection for his family, showing remorse for his actions and attempting to provide further intelligence before his death. 204 205 206
