A sharp blade flashed. Mei Raiden cleanly pierced a Zombie Girl through the heart. The Zombie Girl collapsed weakly, and before long, her body dissipated beneath the sunlight, leaving nothing behind, as though she had never existed.
Mei looked at the Zombie Girls with sorrow in her eyes. These people had become zombies because of the "her" inside Mei. Although Kiana had comforted her that morning, she still felt guilty.
"Mei, you're amazing! You even know such incredible swordsmanship!" Kiana grabbed Mei Raiden's right hand and swung it back and forth. Then she glanced at Yu Luo, who was following behind as though he were out on a picnic, and said pointedly, "Certain people hiding behind girls should really learn something."
"Actually, I've almost forgotten my family's [Hokushin Itto-ryu]. I'm not as amazing as you say, Kiana." Mei Raiden spoke modestly. Compared with Kiana's arrogant energy, Mei's refined young lady temperament was unmistakable.
"Have you ever seen a trump card deal with small fry?" Yu Luo took pride rather than shame in hiding behind two girls. He declared righteously, "The protagonist naturally has to make his entrance at the end."
"You're a protagonist my ass. You're just an idiot janitor doing midair splits." The system started bickering with Yu Luo in his mind.
"I'm an Opening-rank Master, a man who beat Human King Goetia barehanded. Watch how you talk to me!" Yu Luo refused to back down and brought out his credentials.
"Do you believe I'll open the Chaldea Gate right now and send you to the Temple of Time so you can have a nice chat with Goetia?" The system sneered by Yu Luo's ear.
"Uh, forget it, forget it. Goetia's suffered enough. Let's spare him." Yu Luo instantly caved. The Chaldea Gate's function had not even been unlocked yet, so he had no idea whether the system was telling the truth. If it was true, wouldn't he be done for?
Along the way, Kiana and Mei Raiden were all lovey-dovey while Yu Luo and the system bickered endlessly, making their way smoothly toward Changkong City's light rail station. The Zombie Girls in the city were indeed nowhere near as densely packed as those in Changkong Academy. They mostly gathered in small groups of twos and threes, and under the cleanup of Kiana and Mei Raiden, two girls whose combat strength was absurdly high, they posed no obstacle at all.
"See? I told you everything would work itself out!"
After arriving smoothly at the entrance of the light rail station, Kiana smugly pointed at the empty lobby and mocked Yu Luo. "I wonder who was worried that the station would be full of Zombie Girls. What a scaredy-cat."
"I was being cautious. A single-track white-haired creature like you could never understand!" Yu Luo showed no fear in the face of Kiana's challenge and immediately fired back.
"Alright, alright." Seeing the two about to start bickering again, Mei Raiden hurriedly cut them off. "No danger is the best outcome. Let's hurry up and follow the plan."
"But where's the waiting hall?" Kiana stood in the lobby, staring blankly at the station map on display. She could not find her bearings at all.
"As expected..." Remembering Kiana's innate lack of direction, Yu Luo was just about to mock her when Mei Raiden hurriedly interrupted again. Covering her forehead helplessly, she said, "This way. I'll lead."
Along the way, Kiana seized nearly every chance to mock Yu Luo, and Yu Luo showed her no gentlemanly courtesy whatsoever, choosing instead to return it in kind. Mei Raiden was so overwhelmed by their arguing that she felt like a mother leading two children around.
The waiting hall was below the lobby, and they had to pass through a security checkpoint. However, the staff who should have been handling security had already become Zombie Girls and were wandering near the checkpoint. Seemingly catching the trio's scent, they opened their mouths and howled as they charged at them.
Bang! Bang! Kiana raised her twin pistols and accurately shot down two Zombie Girls. Mei Raiden also cleanly brought down another with a swift stroke of Soshu Muramasa. After the three Zombie Girls fell, they slowly dissipated without leaving anything behind.
"Let's go!" Yu Luo took the lead, vaulting over the security gate with one hand. Kiana and Mei Raiden nimbly climbed over after him, and the three headed down to the first floor along the stopped escalator.
"Whoa, Kiana, you jinxed it!" Yu Luo immediately cried out. A silver Noble Phantasm Card was pinched between the fingers of his left hand, while a silver Heroic Spirit Card was pinched between the fingers of his right. After thinking about it, Yu Luo put away the silver Noble Phantasm Card in his left hand. The same Noble Phantasm Card could only take effect once a day, so using it here would be a waste.
"Shouldn't we blame you for being such a jinx?" Seeing the situation in the first-floor waiting hall, Kiana also shouted in panic.
"You two... are beyond saving!" Mei Raiden sighed, pressing her left hand to her forehead. With her right hand, she raised Soshu Muramasa and assumed the opening stance of Hokushin Itto-ryu, ready for battle.
The first-floor waiting hall was packed with Zombie Girls. Even the Zombie Girls at Senba Academy could not compare to this. There had to be close to a thousand of them. No wonder there had not been anyone visible in the second-floor lobby—they had all crammed onto the first floor.
Because of Yu Luo and Kiana's shouting, all the Zombie Girls raised their heads. Upon seeing the three of them, they let out howls and crazily squeezed toward the narrow escalator, forming wave after wave of corpses. Quite a few Zombie Girls were knocked down and lay helplessly beneath the feet of their own kind.
"This really looks like a train station in some major country during the Spring Festival." Even at a time like this, Yu Luo could not resist making a quip. Kiana punched him on the shoulder. "Stop talking nonsense. You've been conserving your strength for so long—it's time for you to take the stage, Mr. Trump Card!"
"Wasn't I ready already?" Yu Luo raised the silver Heroic Spirit Card in his hand and solemnly told the two girls behind him, "I'll clear the way. Kiana, stay behind me. Mei, cover the rear. Whatever happens, don't fall behind, got it?"
The two girls nodded. Yu Luo watched the Zombie Girls who had already crowded onto the escalator, raised his right hand into the air, and traced a line before himself. "Henshin!" A blinding silver flash vanished in an instant. Yu Luo was now dressed in a stylish black cowboy outfit with a black cowboy hat on his head. He gave a slight flick of his right hand, and two thunderous gunshots rang out. The bodies of the two charging Zombie Girls were blown apart by half. They staggered two steps before collapsing weakly.
Transformed into Billy the Kid, Yu Luo flipped down from the escalator. While he was still in midair, he had already activated the A+ rank Quick Draw skill. Kiana and Mei Raiden could only see him fire once, but unceasing gunfire echoed through the entire waiting hall.
Bang bang bang bang bang... The continuous gunshots blended together like firecrackers. The Zombie Girls surging beneath Yu Luo's feet fell one after another like harvested rice stalks. By the time Yu Luo landed, an empty space roughly three meters across had appeared beneath his feet.
"Get down here!" Yu Luo shouted at the two still on the escalator. Kiana and Mei Raiden exchanged a glance, then leaped down directly from a height of nearly two meters. The three stood back-to-back in a triangle, confronting the Zombie Girls surrounding them.
In that brief span of time, Yu Luo had fired more than a dozen shots in succession. Fortunately, the bullets were all formed from Transformation Energy, so he did not have to worry about reloading. Otherwise, with the revolver's capacity of only six bullets, reloading alone would have been troublesome enough.
But the drawback was obvious as well: Transformation Energy was consumed insanely fast. Less than a minute had passed since he transformed, yet 10% of his energy had already vanished under such intense firing. This was even with Billy the Kid possessing Independent Action A, which greatly reduced consumption.
"Charge!" The boarding security gate was less than thirty meters away, but the number of Zombie Girls between them was enough to make one despair. The empty area Yu Luo had cleared with A+ Quick Draw was already about to be filled by the tide-like Zombie Girls.
