"Hey, Kiana, what the hell is this weird, unscientific creature?!" Yu Luo fled frantically as well. "Shouldn't something like this belong on the set of Ultraman or Godzilla?!"
"I don't know either!" Kiana turned and fired a shot at the enormous monster. The orange beam fired by the Electromagnetic Hand Cannon pierced straight through its body with ease, but such a penetrating wound was nothing more than a drop in the bucket against the giant beast's size. It had no effect at all.
"Hey, what about your quantum-wave transformation?" Kiana looked displeasedly at Yu Luo, who had grabbed her shoulder as his stamina ran dry. "Transform already and take this thing out!"
"I don't know where its weak point is!" Yu Luo said openly, without the slightest shame over slacking off. "And who knows how many more of these things are behind us? What if an even stronger one shows up?!"
"Tch!" Kiana clicked her tongue in irritation, then grabbed Yu Luo's hand so he would not get flung away as she led him around the massive balls and rubble flying at them from behind.
"According to Bronya's database, these monsters are Honkai Beasts that are born only in places with dense Honkai Energy. After scanning, the one before us belongs to..." Bronya's voice came from above the three of them.
"Bronya!" Yu Luo looked up in delight. Bronya leaped down from the rooftop, the strong wind lifting her skirt to reveal white safety shorts. Her face remained expressionless as her eyes locked onto the ballista-class Honkai Beast.
"Target locked!"
"Heavy-Oni Rabbit 19C!"
The robot that had fought Yu Luo before appeared behind Bronya. Flames gathered within its thick cannon barrel as it aimed at the giant Honkai Beast's truck-sized head.
"Fire!" A pillar of flame erupted from above the ballista-class Honkai Beast's head. The cannon held by Heavy-Oni Rabbit 19C roared as the Cannon of Equality erupted, the pillar of fire blasting through the Honkai Beast's massive head before plunging into the ground without losing any momentum.
"Boom!" Another deafening explosion rang out as a cloud of smoke billowed up from the street. The shockwave that followed scattered the dust, and flying chunks of stone struck the surrounding buildings with clattering sounds like bullets. Bronya hid behind the semi-virtual shield raised by Heavy-Oni Rabbit 19C, while Yu Luo and the others had already ducked into a roadside shop the instant Bronya fired.
Only after the shockwave gradually faded did the three emerge from the shop, still shaken. Bronya stood before the ballista-class Honkai Beast as it collapsed limply without a head. The road beneath it was covered in cracks, and where the Honkai Beast had fallen lay a huge pit more than two meters deep.
"Bronya showed up at just the right time!" Mei Raiden wrapped an arm around Bronya's shoulders and praised her. Yu Luo rubbed Bronya's head as well. "Nicely done, Bronya!"
As he spoke, his gaze fell on the suspicious doll Bronya held in her arms. It looked like a rabbit, but it had a vicious face, a hideous yellow body, and was unpleasant in every possible sense. He had not seen that doll yesterday.
"Bronya, this is..." Yu Luo pointed curiously at the doll in Bronya's arms. Bronya narrowed her eyes as she enjoyed Yu Luo's head-patting service, then raised the doll high and said emotionlessly:
"This is Horm's limited-edition release. Bronya searched many stores before finding it."
Was she showing it off? Yu Luo froze for a moment. Kiana, who had been neglected at the side, pointed at Bronya unhappily and complained unreasonably, "What's so great about that? You suddenly showed up and started blasting everywhere. You nearly hit me too!"
"You useless little runt!"
"Kiana's safety priority: 0. System determination: her life and death need not be considered." Bronya hugged Horm and said blankly.
"Are you trying to start a war?!" Kiana angrily rolled up her sleeves and flexed her muscles like an idiot. Bronya replied with emotionless contempt:
"The probability of Bronya's victory has been confirmed at 99.9999999%."
"Then mine is 100%!"
Watching the two start arguing again, Yu Luo could not help rubbing his forehead. Meanwhile, Mei Raiden was thinking:
Why had such a monster appeared? Could the concentration of Honkai Energy still be rising? How long before these monsters began appearing in groups?
"Tired?" Yu Luo noticed Mei spacing out and asked with concern. Mei Raiden shook her head and said with a trace of worry, "I just don't know whether we can successfully escape Changkong City. If we leave, I wonder whether everyone will still be together like this."
"Don't overthink it." Yu Luo's expression softened as he said firmly, "I'll stay with you and Kiana until you find your fathers. And I'll stay with Bronya until she fully regains human emotions!"
Seeing Mei Raiden open her mouth as though she wanted to say something else, Yu Luo quickly cut her off. "Let's find somewhere to rest before continuing. We've been running around all morning. I'm exhausted."
Yu Luo then ruthlessly barged into Bronya and Kiana's battlefield. He flicked Kiana hard on her smooth forehead, then forcibly grabbed both their hands so they could not keep arguing. "Come on, let's find somewhere to rest!"
"Don't drag me around! This young lady can walk by herself!"
"Bronya has scanned a Horm Restaurant ahead. Recommended for the current request!"
After a noisy lunch, Bronya seemed overcome by sleepiness and directly lay down on Mei Raiden's lap to sleep. Mei Raiden gently stroked Bronya's sleeping face and smiled. "She even takes afternoon naps. She really is a child."
"She looks about fourteen, after all." Yu Luo propped his chin on both hands and leaned against the wall, looking out the window.
"Senior Mei, you just like Bronya!" Kiana said sourly. Mei Raiden gently patted Kiana's head as well. "I do like Bronya, but I like Kiana too."
That sounded like something a scumbag man would say. Yu Luo complained inwardly. If Mei were a man, Kiana might have already slapped her across the face.
"Wake up. She has the Protagonist Script." The system ruthlessly shattered Yu Luo's fantasy.
"How so?"
"Born into a wealthy family, father framed by others, mother dead young, mysterious origins, extraordinary swordsmanship, an overwhelmingly powerful existence inside her, and a gentle personality. Isn't that enough of a Protagonist Script?" The system listed the points one by one. Yu Luo was completely convinced after hearing them.
"Then it seems I have the script of the protagonist's little brother."
While Yu Luo was bantering with the system, Mei Raiden, completely unaware of it all, looked at him and said, "Thank you."
"Huh?" Mei Raiden's sudden words confused Yu Luo. He wore a baffled expression while frantically asking the system in his mind, Someone is actively trying to win me over. What do I do? What do I do? Waiting online, urgent!

"You let me meet Kiana and Bronya. You gave me so many good friends, and even let me learn clues about my father. Thank you so much."
"Then you must hold onto your will and not let what's inside you take over," Yu Luo said to Mei Raiden with a smile. Mei Raiden smiled and nodded as well, opening her mouth to say something more. But through the window behind her, Yu Luo saw a gigantic blade reflecting sunlight as it slashed down toward the unsuspecting Mei Raiden.
"Watch out!" In that desperate moment, Yu Luo's mind went blank. He lunged forward on instinct and shoved Mei Raiden aside. Crash... The sturdy concrete building was as flimsy as paper before the enormous pinkish-white blade, torn apart with ease.
Splattered blood flew through the air alongside shattered glass. Yu Luo's body was flung high like a rag doll before crashing heavily onto the ground, motionless. Blinding blood poured from the savage wound on his back, so deep that bone was visible, quickly forming a large pool.
The sudden change shattered the cheerful, warm atmosphere. Kiana and Mei Raiden froze on the spot. Bronya was startled awake by the tremendous noise and rubbed her bleary eyes in confusion.
"Teacher Yu Luo!" Kiana cried out, but her voice was immediately drowned out by an even shriller, more frantic, more despairing howl.
"No!!!!!!!!! Ah!!!!!!!!"
