Within St. Freya Academy, a place steeped in British charm and resembling a royal garden, the mysterious dormitory building for male teachers stood right before Yu Luo—
"An exquisite castle-like layout, marble statues placed throughout the garden, a rainbow faintly visible above the fountain at the entrance, overflowing with aristocratic elegance... Tch, did you think I was going to say that?!"
Yu Luo pointed excitedly at the shabby little building before him. The red paint on its exterior was already peeling away, and the walls were covered in mottled stains. He would not have doubted it if someone told him it was an abandoned building awaiting demolition.
"So male lifeforms have no human rights in an all-girls school, huh?!"
"I don't know who you are, but congratulations—you've already seen through the true nature of St. Freya Academy!" A refined male voice sounded behind Yu Luo, responding to his complaint.
"To be honest, even a male seabird would be shot down by the automated turrets the moment it landed inside St. Freya Academy. The treatment male teachers receive in this entire academy is simply... sigh..."
Yu Luo turned around curiously. The man had short brown hair and glasses, and looked like a gentle, cultured intellectual. His face was full of melancholy. With a briefcase tucked under his left arm, he extended his right hand toward Yu Luo and said warmly,
"Hello, nice to meet you. My name is Walter Yang, though everyone calls me Walter. I'm the history teacher here."
As a shut-in with extremely little experience dealing with men, Yu Luo clumsily took Walter's hand and introduced himself. "Hello, I'm Yu Luo. I'm a new teacher who arrived today, and I still don't know what subject I'll be teaching."
Upon hearing that, Walter looked at Yu Luo with pity. He stepped forward, patted him on the shoulder, and sighed. "You were tricked... invited here by the principal, weren't you? This must be hard on you."
"Old Walter, don't be like this. You're making me nervous..." Watching Walter's behavior, Yu Luo suddenly began to panic. "You're making me feel like some delinquent kid who went astray."
"Could you not call me Old Walter? Just call me Walter." Walter shuddered all over, apparently extremely put off by the nickname.
"Alright, Old Walter." Yu Luo threw an arm around Walter's shoulders. He had to admit that Walter's artsy appearance and easygoing way of speaking really put him at ease. It felt as though they were old friends.
"Forget it, forget it." Walter shook his head. Looking at Yu Luo's empty hands, he said, "Let's go inside first. By the way, where's your luggage?"
"Uh..." Only then did Yu Luo remember something very, very important, and he was suddenly speechless.
"You didn't bring any?!" Walter leaned close to Yu Luo and said with immense pressure, word by word, "Let me tell you, there's no air conditioning, no heating, no refrigerator, no washing machine—nothing at all in the dorm. Even the beds are made by putting two wooden boards together. You understand what I mean, right?!"
"You mean that this hidden organization, which controls more than half the world, can claim an entire island as a school and construct buildings in this royal style, can't even provide a move-in-ready dorm?!" Yu Luo exclaimed in shock.
Walter looked as if he deeply understood the feeling and patted Yu Luo's shoulder. "You'll get used to it. After all, there are only women in this academy. Men don't count as people."
"Can I leave now?"
"What do you think?" Walter looked at Yu Luo as though he were an idiot, then consoled him. "Actually, aside from that, everything else is fine. This place is full of young, beautiful female students, and they speak so nicely. I absolutely love it here."
As he spoke, Walter had already dragged Yu Luo into the little building that seemed to exist only in the memories of people born in the eighties. The long corridor was covered in peeling wall paint, and the faded paint had turned a dull gray, giving the place a rundown, lifeless feeling.
"How about you sleep at my place? My home is pretty big." Walter led the way with practiced familiarity, passing the tightly shut, dust-covered doors along the way. They went straight to the third floor, where he took out a key from his briefcase and opened a door.
Yu Luo had not encountered a single person along the way, which was rather unbelievable for a dormitory building. It could not be that every male teacher had gone to teach, could it?
"Old Walter, where are all the male teachers here?" Yu Luo asked curiously.
"Huh?" Walter was bending down to change his shoes. Hearing Yu Luo's question, he raised his head strangely. "I'm the only male teacher in the entire academy. Well, no, now there's one more—you."
"My future is looking more and more uncertain." Yu Luo let out a deep sigh.
"Alright, I still have two empty rooms here. Pick whichever one you want." Walter stepped aside to let Yu Luo enter.
Yu Luo walked into Walter's room. He had expected a similarly old and shabby interior, but Walter's room perfectly embodied the phrase, "low-key outside, luxurious within." The lavish decor and meticulous design almost made Yu Luo think he had entered a wealthy family's villa.
"You know spatial magic, don't you? You definitely know spatial control magic! There's no way this building could have a layout like this otherwise!"
"Ahaha..." Walter laughed awkwardly twice and vaguely replied, "I've just lived here for a long time, and I happen to be a designer on the side. Alright, hurry up and choose your room."
Yu Luo gave Walter a look but did not press the matter. Instead, he chose a room that looked fairly decent as his own, lay directly down on the bed, and began communicating with the system in his mind.
"What do you think of this Old Walter guy? He definitely isn't simple!"
"None of my business," the system replied lazily. "I'm just a system. Deduction stuff like that isn't suitable for me."
"Unless there's money involved," the system added.
"Tch, all you think about is money. One day, you'll get crushed to death by it!"
"I'd really like to see that day come. Thanks for the blessing."
Seeing that the system could not be bothered with him at all, Yu Luo found it boring as well. He was also thinking about Mei Raiden and the other two, so he simply climbed out of bed and pushed open the door.
"Hm? Is something wrong?" Walter was sitting on the sofa watching television. On the screen, the leader was angrily shouting, "I came to Hebei Province..." Hearing the door open, Walter turned around and looked at Yu Luo curiously.
"Hey, Old Walter, do you know where someone named Murata Himeko lives?"
"That violent woman?!" Walter looked disgusted. "Why are you asking about her? Don't tell me you've taken a fancy to her?"
"Let me tell you, that woman is an older leftover woman. She likes violence, she likes drinking, and she's usually a complete mess. You'd better think this through." Looking like a gossiping auntie, Walter said to Yu Luo, "Oh, and don't tell her I said any of this."
"But since you want to find her, I'll take you there." Walter stood up, turned off the television, and walked to the entrance to change his shoes.
"Thanks, Old Walter. Once I get paid, I'll treat you to a meal." Yu Luo said it casually, but Walter responded with a deep sigh. "Salary... I haven't received mine for two months. They used to deduct half of it, but at least they still paid something. Now it's simply vanished without a trace. Principal Theresa is getting more and more outrageous."
"Forget it, let's not talk about unhappy things. I'll take you to Teacher Himeko's place. She lives together with all those adorable female students. It's truly enviable."
"Living together with young female high school students..." Yu Luo imagined the scene. Who knew what he pictured, but his whole body seemed to be bathed in holy light. Then he voiced the same thought as Walter.
"It's truly enviable..."
The two looked at each other and nodded in mutual understanding. "Old Walter, let's go."
"Alright, Old Yu."
"So this is a girl's room?" Standing before Murata Himeko's door, Yu Luo looked at the chaotic scene before him, his eye twitching nonstop.
"No, Old Yu, don't lose hope in girls!" Walter put an arm around Yu Luo's shoulder and gave him a thumbs-up. His white teeth reflected the sunlight so brightly that they were almost dazzling.
"But..." Yu Luo looked at the room, which was filled with clutter to the point that there was nowhere to step, his face full of despair. The exquisitely decorated room was not the fresh or cozy little space he had imagined. Instead, magazines had been thrown about everywhere, lunch boxes were scattered messily around, clothes lay all over the place, and a pile of empty beer bottles had been casually stacked in the room.
Bronya, looking adorably blank, was pinned beneath a mountain of clothes. Mei Raiden was struggling to pull her out from the pile, while Kiana curiously pushed open a tightly shut door. Murata Himeko, who was frantically tidying up her personal belongings, happened to see this and hurriedly shouted,
"Don't open that door, Kiana!"
Unfortunately, it was already too late. Countless miscellaneous items burst out of the room like an avalanche, mercilessly burying Kiana at the very bottom. She struggled desperately and cried out,
"Wah, save me!!!"
This was the sight that greeted Yu Luo and Walter when they arrived. Yu Luo could only cover his eyes with his hand, and all his fantasies about girls' dormitories were utterly shattered.
