Extinguishing Light

A drunk man, still clutching a bottle, walked down a dark, silent alley.

His stumbling gait made it seem like he could fall at any moment.

Suddenly, a bright light from afar shone on his face.

"Oh GOD, is God coming to pick me up!"

Even a drunkard knew it was still the middle of the night, and the light shouldn't be coming this early.

The same phenomenon was common around the West Coast.

That beam of light erupting in the darkness was so conspicuous, as clear as the Emperor's New Clothes.

Some even thought it was a miracle and came to worship.

However, only PPDC headquarters and the citizens of Nation M watching the live broadcast knew what had happened.

Initially, the fight between the "Wanderer" and the "Stegosaurus" went smoothly.

Because the "Stegosaurus" lacked the agility of the "Mad Ape," although its defense was much stronger, it was essentially a sitting duck.

If it were before, perhaps the "Wanderer" would have had some trouble, as it would have been difficult to damage even if it stood still.

Just as the "Wanderer" was about to deliver the final blow to the "Stegosaurus," a Kaiju suddenly leaped from the previously calm sea behind it!

The new Kaiju was slightly smaller than the "Stegosaurus" and the "Mad Ape," but its agility was definitely not ordinary.

It was at least a Category 3 Kaiju, likely an agile type.

This agile Kaiju leaped directly onto the "Wanderer" from behind, catching it off guard and directly attacking its head.

That was where the "Wanderer's" cockpit was!

They were battle-hardened veterans, not rookies like Xiao Shou, who had only recently joined the army.

"Oh shit! Where did this Kaiju come from!"

General Jonathan rarely cursed.

He couldn't remain calm anymore because they might have lost the "Wanderer."

"Report, General, it might have come through a wormhole entrance we didn't know about. The underwater massive life energy detection system didn't pick it up either!"

"General, we've lost contact with the 'Wanderer's' cockpit!"

Hearing this, Jonathan couldn't help but slam his fist on the table.

"General, it's Mr. [Sir]'s call."

General Jonathan took a deep breath and picked up the phone.

"Sir, this is Jonathan!"

"General Jonathan, has the 'Wanderer' been defeated!"

"Sir, we've lost contact with the 'Wanderer's' cockpit, but that doesn't mean the pilots are dead."

"So, the 'Wanderer' can no longer fight, right."

"I'm afraid so, Sir. But 'Taishan' and 'Cherno Alpha' are in Hawaii, and they can reach here in about ten minutes. We still have a chance!"

"Ten minutes? Look how fast this new Kaiju is. It might reach the shore and San Francisco in less than five minutes!"

Jonathan was very panicked and angry upon hearing this.

Listening to the dial tone on the other end of the phone, Jonathan's eyes were vacant.

Immediately after, the Nation M military announced the matter on live broadcast, claiming it was at the request of the "Wanderer" pilot and PPDC headquarters to deploy nuclear weapons.

Soon, after layers of authorization, two tactical nuclear bombs fell, illuminating the entire West Coast as if it were daytime.

Despite the brilliance, a shadow fell upon the hearts of all the citizens of Nation M.

Because, their light had been extinguished.
