Background
Mount Tai was assembled at the Dalian Shatterdome Base from components manufactured across Z Nation and overseas. Its completion represented the work of more than 20,000 base personnel over nearly half a year. 4 8
Commander Mao Shucheng named the Jaeger after Mount Tai, the foremost of Z Nation's Five Great Mountains. The name was chosen to express the machine's intended purpose: standing firm on the Pacific defense line and sheltering the population from Kaiju attacks. 8
Its first dual-pilot neural-link test nearly caused a disaster when Xiao Shou became trapped in traumatic memories and seized control through an abnormally strong connection. The incident left him uncertain whether he could bear the responsibility of piloting Mount Tai. 8 9
Mount Tai was nevertheless sent into combat against Bladehead when Hong Kong came under imminent threat. The nationwide live broadcast of its deployment transformed it into a public symbol of resistance against the Kaiju. 10
Following the Bladehead battle, the original Mo Dao was badly damaged and proved prohibitively difficult to reproduce. It was subsequently replaced by a laser sword system, while Mount Tai later received shoulder-mounted precision missiles and an upgraded adaptive nano-shield. 24 27 59 132

Abilities & Systems
Neural Synchrony Control
Mount Tai was designed for dual-pilot neural synchrony, allowing Xiao Shou's combat instincts and Xie Yushan's military training to combine in battle. Its normal operational performance requires a synchrony value above 80%. 12 175
- Xiao Shou maintained a connection value above 95%, with potential to reach 97% or higher. 12 16
- Emotional overload can dramatically amplify Mount Tai's combat output, as seen in the punches that defeated Black Fiend and Tengu. 94 95 107
- Xiao Shou later achieved single-pilot control through “perfect synesthesia,” moving Mount Tai with exceptional speed and precision. 149 150
- Sustained high-intensity synchronization causes severe fatigue and can incapacitate the pilots after combat. 91 95 173
Rocket Boosters and Heavy Punches
A rocket thruster mounted at Mount Tai's right elbow, supplemented by a wrist booster in later engagements, greatly increases the force of its right-handed strikes. 4 94
- Enables Mount Tai's signature rocket-powered heavy punch. 13 36
- Used to knock Mad Ape aside, destroy Black Fiend's head, defeat Tengu, and stagger Blackbeard. 35 94 107 125
- Its pressure-based melee style is known by Xiao Shou as the “Beat the Dog While It’s Down” fist technique: a rapid sequence of punches after gaining an opening. 125
- An overload rocket-booster deployment method was researched to deliver Mount Tai to Sakura's main island in approximately 30 minutes. 183
Electromagnetic Gravitic Device
Mounted in the right arm, Mount Tai's electromagnetic gravitic device can manipulate nearby metal objects or fire a gravity beam. 4 23 149
- Can pull surrounding steel and debris into improvised projectiles. 23
- Retrieved Mount Tai's submerged laser-sword hilt during the Blackbeard battle. 125
- In single-pilot mode, Xiao Shou used the gravity beam to form and launch a massive steel ball at Thorn Turtle's head. 149
- Consumes enormous energy—nearly five times the expenditure of a particle-cannon shot—making repeated use impractical. 23
Electromagnetic Particle Cannon
Mount Tai's right-arm cannon fires controlled electromagnetic particle blasts at designated weak points. 4 13
- Precision-fired at Bladehead's heart before its regeneration forced a tactical change. 13
- Used to destroy Bladehead's head after its secondary brain was severed. 14
- Combined with Cherno Alpha's close-range bombardment to finish Lava. 86
- Delivered the final attack against Blackbeard after Hou Yi destroyed its secondary brain. 127
- Draws on stored energy reserves also used to stabilize the laser sword. 27
Laser Sword
Mount Tai's laser sword replaced the original Mo Dao after the latter became too costly and difficult to maintain. The blue blade is generated by electromagnetic stimulators in Mount Tai's arms and is stored as a hilt in its leg. 27
- Extends into a saber-like blade more than 30 meters long. 27 149
- First deployed against Mad Ape, where it cut across the Kaiju's chest. 37
- Can be disabled if the electromagnetic stimulator in the wielding hand is damaged. 38
- Was repeatedly used against Black Fiend, Tengu, Blackbeard, Xila, Thorn Turtle, and Wolf Lizard. 91 105 126 135 149
- Its energy-based design is more sustainable than the original Mo Dao, which required rare materials and complex repairs. 24 27
Adaptive Nano-Shield
Mount Tai's thick left arm contains a nano-retractable system that can deploy into a shield for close-range defense. 4 13
- Held Bladehead in place and defended against its blade-like head. 13
- Deflected Mad Ape's assaults, creating a massive vortex in the sea. 36
- Blocked Tengu's fireball, though the shield was destroyed by the blast. 106
- Later upgraded from a fixed round shield into an adaptive system capable of changing shape. 132
Shoulder Missiles
After repairs, Mount Tai received two shoulder-mounted launcher rows carrying six small auto-targeting missiles. 59
- Designed for precise strikes with a controlled, limited blast radius. 59
- Supplements its close-combat and right-arm weapon systems without creating large-scale collateral damage. 59
Equipment
- Original Tang Mo Dao — 44-meter double-edged pole saber concealed in the right leg; used to sever Bladehead's arm and destroy its secondary brain. 14
- Laser sword hilt — Leg-stored emitter for the blue laser blade. 27
- Right-arm electromagnetic gravitic device — Metal manipulation, gravity beam, and particle-cannon platform. 4 149
- Right elbow and wrist rocket boosters — Enhances heavy punches and close-combat acceleration. 13 94
- Left-arm adaptive nano-shield — Defensive armament capable of changing form after its upgrade. 132
- Shoulder missile launchers — Six compact auto-targeting missiles. 59
Combat Record
| Engagement | Outcome | Notes |

- Cherno Alpha — Allied Jaeger that protected Mount Tai during its Mad Ape system failure and later fought alongside it against Lava. 40 86
- Crimson Typhoon — Allied Hong Kong Jaeger. The two met and exchanged a fist bump after the second defense of Hong Kong. 108 112
- Hou Yi — Allied Jaeger whose laser arrow freed Mount Tai from Blackbeard's tentacles and created the opening for their joint victory. 125 127
Public Image
Mount Tai's debut against Bladehead was broadcast nationwide specifically to restore public morale amid widespread fear of Kaiju attacks. Its arrival turned despair into mass celebration and established it as Z Nation's first widely recognized Jaeger hero. 10
Hong Kong's civilians continued to view Mount Tai as a protector during later attacks. Its return against Tengu was greeted as the return of the Jaeger that had first defended the city, while civilians facing Thorn Turtle and Wolf Lizard immediately regained hope upon seeing it arrive. 104 149
