Succession struggle

As Gaoling's First Prince, Leon seeks to overthrow Leonard, accusing him of forging their father's will, killing their father, and persecuting his siblings. He leads eastern nobles and royal troops against Leonard's forces at Seaton Fortress. 206 208

His first assault on Seaton Fortress fails because his army lacks siege ladders and cannot exploit its numerical advantage in the narrow terrain. He temporarily withdraws to prepare siege equipment and seeks routes around the fortress through Mayweather and Cassiano. 208

Cassiano and Ronan reject Leon's demand for surrender but propose an alliance against Leonard. Leon initially reacts with anger, then accepts Barbosa's counsel to agree to the arrangement. 209

Conflict with Ronan

Leon gathers Jianmen Fortress guards and the forces of his remaining supporters for a decisive battle. His men begin deserting, but he orders an attack on Morsus's Black Legion after losing contact with his scouts. 267 271
