"Sorry to visit so late at night, but I truly have something very important to tell you."
In a corner of the hall, only a single dim candle was lit. Thomas seemed somewhat unaccustomed to the surroundings as he tugged at the brim of his hat and lowered his voice.
"I received a last-minute tip. The Back of the Head Attacker may strike tonight at a Ron Sorcerer responsible for making purchases on Second Ring Island!"
"This is our best chance to catch him."
There was a hint of excitement in his tone. If Xu Nan had not been able to see his true emotions through Supernatural Vision, he might really have been fooled by Thomas's slightly improved acting.
"Is that so? Then what are you standing around for?"
Xu Nan asked with a smile.
Thomas froze for a moment. "What do you mean?"
Xu Nan feigned confusion. "Isn't arresting criminals the responsibility of your Law Enforcement Team?"
"I'm merely a traveler. Though I'm interested, it wouldn't be appropriate for me to interfere directly, would it?"
Thomas fell silent for a while before saying in realization,
"So that is what concerns you."
"There are ways around it. As you know, I'm currently working alone and lack a partner. The Law Enforcement Team also happens to be short-staffed lately, so I can temporarily apply for a collaborator's permit for you. That way, your involvement would be justified."
"To be honest, although I received this tip, I feel the information came too easily. I don't fully trust that informant. Of course, I'm not afraid. I simply hope to handle this more cleanly..."
Xu Nan suddenly understood. "So you want me to be your assistant?"
Thomas nodded.
"If you are willing."
Xu Nan patted his chest. "Of course I am!"
But before Thomas's
