Background / History

The Chan Sect views the Human Race's growth as a threat to its control over the Primordial World's resources and influence. Hu Shu identifies the sect's emphasis on “origins and roots,” maintaining the existing order, and controlling resources and discourse as the motive behind its hostility toward humanity. 111

Yuanshi Tianzun directs the sect from Jade Void Palace on Kunlun Mountain. He considers Hu Shu's opposition and Fu Xi's talent dangerous because they could substantially strengthen the Human Race. 112 After Fu Xi's Dao Attainment succeeds, Yuanshi orders further measures to suppress humanity, including undermining its relationship with the Jie Sect and sabotaging its cultivation resources. 137
