Background / History
Thanos is a mutant Eternal and one of the few surviving members of the Titan race. Unlike typical Eternals, he cannot fly, though he possesses formidable physical power and durability. His reputation is so severe that Li Congxin considers the threat of Thanos’s snap unavoidable even before becoming involved in larger cosmic events. 16 325
He commands the Dark Cult and the Black Order, using overwhelming military force and ruthless population massacres to pursue his concept of universal “balance.” During his assault on The Void, his army kills indiscriminately while his leading generals capture Sif and Nebula as bait for Li Congxin and the Infinity Stones. 260
Appearance
Thanos is a towering, broad-built purple Eternal with a heavily muscular physique. His face is marked by three distinct vertical lines on his chin. 226
- Purple skin and pointed ears. 226
- Exceptionally tall and robust build, unlike his comparatively slender son Zayn. 226
- Commonly wears gold armor and a gold helmet. 260 320
- Carries a large, oar-like greatsword as his personal weapon. 260 300
Personality
Thanos is cold, calculating, and committed to his own goals regardless of the suffering they cause. He frames his atrocities through a philosophy of balance, exploiting others’ weaknesses and treating captives—including Sif and Nebula—as tools to obtain the Infinity Stones. 260
Despite his cruelty and pride, he is not blindly reckless. When Li Congxin feigns exhaustion after destroying much of the Dark Cult, Thanos chooses to retreat with Hyperion rather than gamble his remaining forces for pride alone. 263
His resolve remains unwavering even when God’s Quarry presents him with a peaceful illusion of life alongside Death and Gamora. Thanos rejects the dream, insisting that his ambitions must be achieved in reality. 326

God’s Quarry grants Thanos access to the power of fallen gods after he passes its trial.
- Gains immense Divine Power capable of opposing Phoenix-empowered Zayn. 329
