Claude's invitation immediately put Vivian on guard.
She had more than ten thousand years of experience and had witnessed every great upheaval on this planet. In recent years, she had even seen plenty of turmoil on other planets. She wasn't timid. She simply felt that Claude was strange—strange enough to be suspicious.
He was a young Demon Hunter who had come of age alongside Bai Huo. No matter how astonishing his talent for magic and Battle Techniques was, he lacked the necessary experience and wisdom. At least, in theory, any young man like him would inevitably lack both. Yet the Claude before her clearly didn't fit those traits, and he had openly admitted that there was "something else" in his soul. Faced with this, Vivian had no choice but to ask, "Before I go with you, let me ask: who exactly are you? Are you Claude, or something else? If you're some old geezer, just be honest and talk to me. I don't think there's any creature on this planet older than me. Perhaps we're old acquaintances."
"I am indeed Claude," the young Demon Hunter said with a smile. "The genuine article. But I've also received an additional inheritance. It coexists with Claude's soul, allowing me to know ancient secrets and to extend this invitation to you here and now. Please come with me. I'm taking you to meet the master of that inheritance."
"We're all going with you?" Hao Ren pointed at himself and Lily beside him. "Not everyone here is reliable."
"Everyone." The young Demon Hunter simply nodded, his gaze sweeping over Bai Huo and Tutanin. "Everyone who has appeared before me here and now is someone I ought to invite. This is an edict passed down from six thousand years ago."
Another one of those time-spanning things!
