Lily's shout interrupted Hao Ren and the Data Terminal's conversation. Even "Roll," who had been curled up in the cat bed scratching her own belly, jerked her head up at the mention of Doudou. Hao Ren froze for less than a second before grabbing the Data Terminal and rushing toward the door.
"Let go, let go! This unit can fly by itself... Damn it, you slammed this unit into the doorframe!"
Hao Ren ran into the living room in a few strides, just in time to see Nangong May and Nangong Sanba hurrying down from the stairs as well. Lily stood in the middle of the room with her eyes wide, staring toward the coffee table.
"What happened, what happened?" Hao Ren asked as he ran over. "What's wrong with Doudou?"
"I don't know," Lily said, pointing at Little Merman on the coffee table. "I was changing Doudou's water when she suddenly jumped out of the pot, and then she became like this... She looks like she's possessed or something. It's terrifying!"
Hao Ren took a close look and saw Doudou standing upright on the coffee table. The little thing held a cluster of holy-flame fire the size of peanuts in each hand, staring at the opposite side of the living room as if facing a formidable enemy. Her tail was stretched taut against the tabletop, and every few seconds she smacked the table hard, producing a loud bang.
Hao Ren had never seen the fish baby react like this. She looked completely terrified, even revealing her battle form—though the little thing's battle form was hardly intimidating.
"Doudou? Doudou?" Hao Ren nervously leaned over to speak to Little Merman, then turned to glance across the living room. "Lily, go see if there's anything over there."
