Almost the instant Hao Ren and the others stepped onto the ramp leading to the Great Temple, all the stone colossi that had been wandering aimlessly came to a halt at the same time. Then rippling glimmers spread across the surface of the enormous jellyfish-like spirit in the sky, and the electromagnetic shield Vivian had created began to crackle. Under the violent clash of energies, the shield rapidly disintegrated before their eyes.
The Giant statue soldiers instantly regained their coordination. As if enraged by the invaders' blasphemous actions, they began charging madly toward the Great Temple. Standing on the ramp and looking around, Hao Ren saw countless swaying giant figures destroying everything in their path with overwhelming force. Countless ancient houses and towers were toppled, and the solid stone pavement was crushed to powder beneath their feet. The footsteps of the Giant statue soldiers swept across the entire city like rolling thunder. Even the whole plateau where the Great Temple stood began to tremble faintly.
"The Stone Legion's gone berserk!" The fur on Lily's ears stood straight up, and she darted behind Hao Ren in an instant. "Landlord! Are you sure these guys won't come near the Great Temple?"
Hao Ren did not answer right away, because, in truth, he was not a hundred percent certain about his own guess. When he saw the stone soldiers swarming over, he simply grabbed the dazed Lorisa and Heiserana beside him. "Fall back inside the Great Temple first. At least the building looks sturdy. Even if the stone soldiers keep advancing, we can use the temple walls to hold them off for a while."
Heiserana had little experience dealing with a situation like this and looked especially tense. "Are you sure this is reliable? If you're wrong, Lady Vivian is taking the risk
