"Bang!!!"
Caught completely off guard, Hassu was struck squarely in the face by a swing of Hao Ren's superalloy brick. The impact even sounded a little like two pieces of metal colliding. In fact, the seasoned Old Hunter had reacted before the brick reached him. His eyes widened in surprise, and the muscles in his entire upper body exploded into action as he tried to evade the close-range ambush. His reaction was fast enough, but unfortunately Hao Ren was just as quick, and he had sealed off every possible angle of escape. Hao Ren had received expert instruction in the art of brick fighting—namely, the close-combat training he had done with Lily whenever they had nothing else to do. Lily was a true Brick Master, and after training with her for more than two years while relying on his superhuman physique, Hao Ren's skill with a brick had reached the point where calling it "masterful" would have been an understatement...
And so, at such close range, Hassu took the brick head-on and immediately saw the world spin.
Yet amid the violent dizziness, he staggered twice and somehow did not fall! Not only did he remain standing, he even struggled to steady himself and reached for the holy-silver short sword at his waist!
Hao Ren nearly jumped up and cursed on the spot: He didn't even get knocked out? Are Demon Hunters' skulls forged from warship alloy or something?!
Hassu retreated half a step while enduring the tremendous dizziness. Years of combat instinct allowed him to assume a fighting stance to the best of his ability even while barely conscious. At the same time, a mixture of shock and fury finally appeared on his face. He glared at Hao Ren and forced out a single word: "You..."
Plan B flashed through
