At the very least, Izax's fireball had taken less than a tenth of a second to smash into the enemy. In that interval, even if the three guards had been unable to dodge or counterattack, they should have made at least some movement.

Yet in reality, Hao Ren felt as though he had struck a motionless target. Until the attacks landed, the three Titan Guards had not reacted in the slightest.

Lily also drew her Ice and Fire Claws. Turning her ears alertly toward every direction, she said, "It doesn't seem like any alarm has gone off."

Hao Ren stayed on guard for a while. He saw neither any Titan Guards rushing over after receiving the news nor heard the alarm that should have sounded throughout the base. He exchanged a glance with Vivian beside him, and the two nodded in silent understanding.

"Stay alert. The atmosphere here is strange," Vivian said softly. "Big guy, keep an eye on what's behind us."

Resolving the three guards with ease did not put everyone at ease. Instead, it made the atmosphere even more bizarre. The group became extremely vigilant as they continued deeper into the fortress along the lifeless steel corridor.
