The vast universe was empty and desolate, with only distant starlight from who knew how many light-years away for company. Such a lonely, barren environment would have been unbearable for most surface-dwelling creatures, but Nolan had long since grown accustomed to it—and even enjoyed it.
She loved the feeling of flying freely between the stars. The boundless void brought her not loneliness and solitude, but absolute freedom and relaxation. She couldn't explain why herself. Perhaps it was because thousands of years trapped in that dream world, repeating the same cycle day after day, had shaped her personality. She had long since grown tired of cramped, limited spaces. Only the vast, infinite, unknown universe could make her rejoice.
Just like now, flying casually through space and enjoying the comfort of starlight falling across her body. If she hadn't been on a mission, Nolan would have loved to fly for a few more hours.
"I've reached the outer space beyond the star's gravitational sphere," she reported. "I haven't encountered any blockade or attack. I just detected an extremely faint energy fluctuation. It should be the divine-power blockade network carrying out a scan, but it looks like this ship has passed the 'inspection.'"
Hao Ren's voice came through the command link. "Good. Come back for now. Don't take unnecessary risks."
Nolan reluctantly turned her sensors for one last look at the distant starlight before rotating the ship and entering faster-than-light travel toward the planetary system.
She soon returned to the forward base on the surface of the Agent's home planet.
"How are things out there?" The moment Nolan's holographic image appeared, Lily eagerly bounded over. "You really weren't attacked? And nothing jumped out to demand toll money?"
"Where did you get this idea of toll money?" Hao Ren casually pushed Husky Girl aside
