Hao Ren was watching TV at home, sitting in his favorite spot on the couch. He was zoning out while watching a boring variety show—the show itself wasn't interesting, but he enjoyed the feeling of emptying his mind, especially after finishing a lot of work. Under normal circumstances, it was hard for him to claim the living room TV, because there was always a jubilant Husky fighting him for the remote, or a twitchy stupid cat constantly coming over to cause trouble. But Lily had gone out to inspect her Army of Dogs, while that stupid cat...
"Roll" had curled up beside him into a small ball, her eyes narrowed as she occasionally let out a comfortable purr. Hao Ren held her tail in his hand, winding it around his arm in circles before letting it go again. Cat Girl had no objection whatsoever—because she had taken the wrong medicine. Sleeping pills. Half a bottle, to be exact.
"I told you long ago that you should throw away all those pills in your room," Vivian muttered from the couch on Hao Ren's other side as she worked on her cross-stitch. "You don't get sick anymore, so why are you still keeping that stuff around? Who in this house needs medicine? Look at what happened this time. This idiot ate all your pills like candy. Fortunately, she's at least gained sentience, so all she'll do is sleep. Otherwise, who knows what might have happened."
Hao Ren could only laugh awkwardly. "I'm just trying to live frugally. You're not lacking food or clothing anymore, but you still keep a few clothes from twenty years ago, don't you?"
After gaining a superhuman body, Hao Ren's life had changed dramatically. Although he had always tried to maintain his human habits, many things were unavoidable.
