After the blinding white light gradually faded, a hollow echo still lingered in the air. It took several minutes for the echo to finally die down. A faintly warm presence—or perhaps it was just an illusion—hovered above the Family Hall. All the Chaos Shadows seemed to have dissipated beneath that white light. Hassu had the Demon Hunters maintain the holy flame barrier while he led Bai Huo forward to investigate. Only after that did he finally send the signal that the crisis had been resolved.
"Phew..." Lily let out a long breath, the fur that had puffed up along her tail slowly settling down. "I'm exhausted in body and soul."
Hao Ren gave the Husky a strange look. "You spent the whole time standing off to the side watching the fun, didn't you?"
Lily had been of no use against the Chaos Shadows. She didn't understand magic at all, and aside from boosting morale, her two claws didn't seem to serve much purpose. So the only thing she had done was cheer from beside Hao Ren. She had wanted to help when Hesperis and Vivian went after the Demon Hunter who had lost control, but everything had ended before she could act.
The Husky Girl stuck out her chest, looking rather proud. "I used a battle cry to buff you just now!"
Hao Ren thought about it. If Lily's noisy cheering could count as a battle cry, then after taking a lap around a large-dog breeding facility, he could probably come back with three rows of buffs stacked on his head...
"Is it over?" Hao Ren looked up toward the Family Hall. The black shadows that had continuously poured out of the main entrance had vanished completely, and the darkness that had once shrouded the hall had dissipated as well.
