Background / History

The Sun Moon Empire is a soul-tool power whose royal family inherits the Sun and Moon Martial Souls; rare direct descendants may awaken the Purple Emperor Annihilation Dragon. Its imperial family is guarded by Kong Deming, the “father of Rank 9 Soul Guidance Masters” and former Mingde Hall Master. Mingde Hall is regarded as one of the continent’s three foremost powers alongside Shrek’s Sea God Pavilion and the Body Sect 9 11 16.

For more than four thousand years after the continents collided, the empire’s borders with the Heavenly Soul and Star Luo Empires endured repeated conflict. A prior Sun Moon emperor refused to retaliate after Star Luo forces breached three border passes and massacred civilians; military officers who petitioned for war were punished, including the maternal family of Xu Tianxi, an imperial branch with deep military ties. That emperor was eventually killed with his family in a coup led by his younger brother 32.

The current imperial establishment had previously tolerated Evil Soul Masters after using them during the purge of the prior dynasty. Following the events at Star Luo City, a full-scale purge was launched by the Five Great Guardian Hands 118 212 226.

• The empire recruits foreign talent regardless of origin or unusual Martial Souls, citing figures such as Xuan Ziwen—whose parents came from the Heaven Dou Empire—as examples 126.

The Sun Moon Empire competed politically and militarily with the Heavenly Soul, Star Luo, and Heaven Spirit Empires. The Original Three Kingdoms frequently portrayed it as a hostile technological power, while Sun Moon representatives argued that this image was a deliberate distortion intended to deter immigration and talent recruitment 126.

• Heaven Dou Empire — Xu Tianxi’s Xuanming Sect lineage ultimately aligned with the Sun Moon Empire. The empire conquered Tiandou City and the Heavenly Soul capital in ten days after Shrek’s destruction weakened Heavenly Soul’s position 32 437.
• Star Luo Empire — Star Luo initially reacted to Sun Moon recruitment efforts with its own talent drive and plotted against the Sun Moon Battle Team. Xu Jiawei later negotiated surrender, incorporating Star Luo territory into the empire without a siege of Star Luo City 146 150 470.
• Heaven Spirit Empire — Its weakness and prior conflict with Heavenly Soul limited its ability to counter the Sun Moon advance 437.

Shrek Academy

Shrek was a long-standing rival. The Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineer Academy’s tournament success, recruitment campaign, and technological superiority intensified tensions; Shrek later launched an invasion that ended in defeat, with Sea God Pavilion Master Song Yunzhi captured 161 324.

The Sun Moon Empire subsequently issued a declaration condemning Shrek’s attack and distinguishing enemies from friends. Its forces later defeated further invading powers from Shrek, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon clan 324 327.

Soul beasts

At the opening of the Heavenly Court, representatives including Bear King and Titan Snow Demon King concluded non-aggression pacts with the Sun Moon Empire and Heavenly Court 337. Soul Spirit contracts and cooperation with soul beasts became central to the empire’s later development 189 359.
