  • Wei Lang told Jiang Fan that the young girl traveling with him likely belonged to a clan of the chaotic Heavenly Demon Royal Court and warned him not to get involved.
  • Jiang Fan considered whether to risk visiting Black Wind Ridge and assessed his exhausted Space-Escaping Mirror, fading Golden Scale, and status-based Grand Capital Prefecture Token.
  • Jiang Fan decided to ask Lu Song and the others about the journey, then returned to them in Greenwood Town.
  • Jiang Fan reassured Lu Song, Chen Zhao, Wen Xi, and the others, and explained that Wei Lang was a Grand Capital Prefecture Deacon ranked above Xiao Yun, shocking the group.

Ch. 1269Never Let Even a Sliver of Hope Slip Away

After Wei Lang intervened against Xiao Yun, Jiang Fan warned his companions that Xiao Yun might seek revenge and revealed that Black Wind Ridge was likely an ancient battlefield rather than a treasure-filled ruin. • Lu Song, Wen Xi, Chen Zhao, and Cui Yiting said they would continue because they valued their friendship and owed Jiang Fan for his help.
  • Jiang Fan revealed that Black Wind Ridge might be an ancient battlefield with lingering dangers and few treasures, rather than an ancient expert's residence.

  • Jiang Fan accepted their decision and vowed to protect them, even if he had to stake his life against Xiao Yun.

Ch. 1270Setting out for Black Wind Ridge

Jiang Fan and his companions reached Black Wind Ridge, where they learned that the direct route to the Ancient Ruins led through the deadly Ghost Cry Valley. Jiang Fan chose the longer detour, though his companions questioned his decision.

  • Jiang Fan led Lu Song, Wen Xi, and the others from Greenwood Town toward Black Wind Ridge, sharing cultivation experiences and asking about the Great Yan Immortal Dynasty along the way.
  • After half a month, the group reached Linjiang County and learned that Black Wind Ridge contained treacherous terrain, dangerous demonic beasts, and miasma that could damage spiritual power and spiritual sense.
  • Lu Song showed the group a map marking the Ancient Ruins deep inside Black Wind Ridge, reachable by passing through Ghost Cry Valley.
  • Lu Song explained that the valley housed vicious Soul-Eating Beasts, while the alternative route through the southern mountains and Misty Marsh would take at least three extra days and posed its own dangers.
  • Jiang Fan decided that the group would take the detour, leaving Lu Song and the others surprised and asking why.

Ch. 1271Misty Marsh

Jiang Fan led the group through Black Wind Ridge and chose a detour through Misty Marsh to avoid the Soul-Eating Beasts in Ghost Cry Valley. The poisonous fog left them unable to follow their map, and Chen Zhao suddenly attacked Cui Yiting.

  • Jiang Fan persuaded Lu Song and the others to avoid Ghost Cry Valley and travel through Black Wind Ridge and Misty Marsh instead.
  • Jiang Fan used his divine sense to detect and eliminate low-rank demon beasts as the group crossed Black Wind Ridge.
  • The group entered Misty Marsh, where corrosive Poison Mist drained their spiritual power and hindered their divine sense and flight.
  • Lu Song could no longer identify landmarks through the thickening fog, and Jiang Fan told everyone to stop until they could determine their direction.
  • Chen Zhao suddenly went berserk and slashed his sword at Cui Yiting.

Ch. 1272Direction

Jiang Fan saved Chen Zhao from attacking Cui Yiting after the Poison Mist made him hallucinate, then followed Jiang Ming’s guidance through the Misty Marsh. Just as the group neared the exit, a mid-stage Void Realm Poison-Scaled Crocodile Flood Dragon appeared before them.

  • Jiang Fan stopped Chen Zhao from striking Cui Yiting and explained that the Poison Mist had eroded Chen Zhao’s divine sense, causing him to hallucinate.
  • Jiang Fan asked Jiang Ming to sense a safe route, and Lu Song led the group in the direction she pointed.
  • The group confirmed their route at a rocky reef, then relied on Jiang Ming to avoid deadly marsh traps as they traveled through the Misty Marsh.
  • After half a day, the Poison Mist thinned and the group saw towering trees ahead, but a Poison-Scaled Crocodile Flood Dragon emerged from the marsh.
  • Lu Song identified the beast as a mid-stage Void Realm demonic beast and prepared to face it.

Ch. 1273Ancient Battlefield Ruins

Jiang Ming frightened away a Poison-Scaled Crocodile Flood Dragon with her mysterious presence, helping the group cross the Misty Marsh safely. After traveling for several days, they reached the edge of the ancient battlefield ruins, where a vast, desolate basin lay ahead.

  • Lu Song and the others failed to damage the Poison-Scaled Crocodile Flood Dragon, and its tail sent them flying.
  • Jiang Fan struck the beast but barely scratched it before Jiang Ming stepped in and ordered it to leave, sending it fleeing into the swamp.
  • Jiang Fan told Lu Song and the others that Jiang Ming’s unusual constitution restrained certain demonic beasts, and her presence kept creatures away as they crossed the marsh.
  • The group left the Misty Marsh, followed Lu Song’s route through Black Wind Ridge and other regions, and reached the ancient ruins on the third day.
  • From a ridge, the group saw a vast basin filled with broken pillars, toppled statue pedestals, scorched earth, and a palpable atmosphere of death and killing intent.

Ch. 1274Empty

Jiang Fan and his companions reached the Ancient Ruins and discovered that they were the remains of an ancient battlefield. After searching the barren site without finding anything, they started to leave, but a sudden change erupted as they neared the exit.

  • Lu Song identified Ghost Cry Valley and explained that the group had avoided its dangers by taking a longer route into the basin.
  • After resting, Jiang Fan warned the group to stay alert as they entered the battlefield ruins.
  • Jiang Fan, Chen Zhao, Cui Yiting, Lu Song, Wen Xi, and the others explored the battlefield and found only ruined buildings, weapons, bones, and traces of lingering power.
  • The group searched for more than half a day but found no treasures or clues to help Jiang Fan repair his Great Dao Foundation.
  • Lu Song led the group toward the western valley exit, but a sudden change erupted just as they were about to leave the battlefield.

Ch. 1275Xiao Yun's Interception

Xiao Yun ambushed Jiang Fan and his companions at Black Wind Ridge, forcing them to retreat into the Ancient Battlefield Ruins. After the Golden Scale ran out of power and Xiao Yun trapped Jiang Fan and Jiang Ming in an Earth Cage, Jiang Fan tried to restore the artifact with his blood essence.

  • Xiao Yun revealed that he had tracked Jiang Fan and blocked the valley exit, overwhelming Lu Song, Wen Xi, and the others with his True Realm pressure.
  • Jiang Fan used the Golden Scale to block Xiao Yun’s attack, then sent Lu Song and Wen Xi fleeing in different directions while he led Jiang Ming deeper into the ruins.
  • Xiao Yun pursued Jiang Fan, shattered the Golden Scale’s barrier, and trapped Jiang Fan and Jiang Ming inside an Earth Cage.
  • With Xiao Yun gathering energy for a fatal strike, Jiang Fan spat his blood essence onto the Golden Scale, causing it to shine with dazzling light and release an ancient, majestic aura.

Ch. 1276Entering Ghost Cry Valley

Jiang Fan escaped Xiao Yun by leaping into Ghost Cry Valley with Jiang Ming, where he recovered from his injuries and prepared to search for a way out. Xiao Yun stayed at the valley’s entrance, waiting for them to emerge or die inside.

  • Jiang Fan burned his blood essence to break Xiao Yun’s Earth Cage, then fled with Jiang Ming through the ruins.
  • Jiang Fan used Xiao Yun’s palm strike to propel himself and Jiang Ming into Ghost Cry Valley, and Xiao Yun chose to wait outside.
  • Jiang Fan and Jiang Ming landed on the valley floor, where Jiang Fan identified the forbidden zone and resolved to find an exit.
  • Jiang Fan refined healing pills for two hours, recovering his injuries but falling from Void Realm Mid-Stage Peak to Void Realm Early Stage.
  • Jiang Fan took Jiang Ming’s hand and led her along the valley path to search for a way out.

Ch. 1277Difficult Progress

Jiang Fan and Jiang Ming entered Ghost Cry Valley, where its baleful energy weakened Jiang Fan and empowered the demon beasts. After Jiang Ming’s bloodline drove off a Black-Winged Bat and helped them travel safely, a terrifying yin wind and mournful cries rose ahead.

  • Jiang Fan protected Jiang Ming as they walked into Ghost Cry Valley and sensed that the valley’s eerie force was eroding his spiritual power and divine sense.
  • A Black-Winged Bat attacked Jiang Fan, whose attacks struggled against its enhanced speed and defense as the valley drained his strength.
  • The bat wounded Jiang Fan with a claw coated in yin poison, but Jiang Ming stepped in and forced it to flee with a golden glow in her eyes and a single command.
  • Jiang Ming released her pressure as they continued, causing the hidden demon beasts to flee before they could attack.
  • A fierce yin wind churned the mist ahead, and mournful cries from all directions began to cloud Jiang Fan and Jiang Ming’s minds.

Ch. 1278A Magical Domain

Jiang Fan used the Soul-Devouring Ancient Mirror to defeat the Soul-Eating Beasts as he and Jiang Ming crossed Ghost Cry Valley. Near the exit, they encountered a colossal pangolin and realized they had been shrunk.

  • Jiang Fan recognized a Soul-Eating Beast and shielded Jiang Ming when it attacked them with a soul strike.
  • Jiang Fan used the Soul-Devouring Ancient Mirror to absorb the Soul-Eating Beast, then continued through the valley with Jiang Ming.
  • Jiang Fan relied on the mirror to deal with more Soul-Eating Beasts as the pair advanced toward the exit.
  • A terrifying aura erupted, and a huge pangolin emerged from the mist, leaving Jiang Fan and Jiang Ming unable to resist.
  • Jiang Fan noticed that the surrounding grass had become towering trees and realized that he and Jiang Ming had shrunk.

Ch. 1279Giant Skeleton

Jiang Fan and Jiang Ming were shrunk inside Ghost Cry Valley and nearly crushed by a giant pangolin before a white barrier from an enormous skeleton saved them. Unable to escape the skeleton’s domain or return to their normal size, Jiang Fan approached it and asked the deceased senior for forgiveness.

  • Jiang Fan noticed that the narrow path through Ghost Cry Valley had become a vast swamp and forest, and realized the surroundings had been transformed.
  • A giant pangolin charged at Jiang Fan and Jiang Ming, forcing them to flee through the swamp as their spiritual power ran low.
  • A white barrier appeared and stopped the pangolin, which then retreated into the gray mist.
  • Jiang Fan discovered that the barrier and the domain came from an enormous human skeleton leaning against a cliff.
  • Jiang Fan found that he and Jiang Ming could not regain their size or leave the domain, so he approached the skeleton and respectfully introduced himself.
