Chapter 5: Cruel Training (Part 2)
"Rumble..." From the depths of the jungle came the deafening roar of waterfalls, like the angry growls of a thunder god from the heavens, making even the space seem to tremble.
From afar, the thirteen massive waterfalls looked like curtains connecting heaven and earth. If one looked closely, beneath the second waterfall from the left, counting from the bottom up, a small dark shadow could be seen faintly in the water curtain. It trembled with the impact of the water, and though it seemed about to fall, it held on tightly to the huge rock like a tenacious vine!...
"Boom!" With a loud sound, a mournful cry, as if to pierce the clouds, came from beneath that waterfall.
A figure quickly darted past the edge of the pool. Its speed was so great that the figure became a blur, leaving behind a dazzling array of afterimages, giving a deep sense of the person's power.
"Little Chen! Are you alright?" The fast-moving figure suddenly stopped, casually scooping up the small figure that had fallen into the water, and asked with concern.
"Grandpa! I... I'm fine!" a weak reply came.
These two were Old Ent and the trainee Chen Yun. In the blink of an eye, Chen Yun had been training here for five days, and he finally tasted Old Ent's monstrous training methods.
First, he had to endure the impact of the water under the waterfall, followed by Old Ent's massive fists. Chen Yun often wondered in his heart why his grandfather, despite not looking particularly strong, had such surprisingly large fists.
The heavy force hitting his body felt like his internal organs were about to be shattered, yet after each blow, his body felt surprisingly relaxed, leaving Chen Yun astonished!
Of course, Old Ent's beating was not as simple as it appeared. The force that penetrated his body vibrated through Chen Yun's muscles in a very regular pattern. This relaxed the muscles tensed by the waterfall's impact and also compressed them, increasing muscle density and greatly improving physical fitness.
This was a method Old Ent had painstakingly discovered through trial and error himself in the past. It had to be said that Old Ent was truly an astonishing genius.
However, such a genius, such a powerful person, had been living in this remote little mountain village for so many years. This was something that deeply puzzled Chen Yun. Many times he wanted to ask, but thinking of his grandfather's words in the small cabin, Chen Yun could only remain silent. He knew his grandfather must have some unspoken secret, and he would naturally find out when the time was right.
With this thought, he could only bury his head and continue his arduous training. Only by becoming strong quickly could this mystery be unraveled!
The final part, climbing the mountain, was the most difficult. Although the rocks were rugged and had many protrusions, they had become surprisingly smooth due to the constant impact of the waterfalls over the years. Gripping them with his hands and feet felt like having strength but nowhere to apply it, which made Chen Yun feel very stifled.
But after Old Ent's guidance, Chen Yun quickly grasped the method. Although he still fell many times, his progress was very evident.
And so, in just five days, he had reached the second waterfall. Such a rapid improvement made even Old Ent sigh with admiration and relief, calling him a peerless genius!
Yet, such an excellent physique was inherently unable to sense the existence of Battle Qi. Could it be that fate was jealous of talent? Every time Old Ent thought of this, he felt a pang of regret and helplessness.
Hearing Chen Yun's weak reply, Old Ent smiled helplessly again.
Over these five days, Chen Yun's extraordinary perseverance and stubbornness had amazed even Old Ent, a battle-hardened veteran. No matter how he was tormented, Chen Yun never uttered a single word of complaint. This was an essential quality for becoming a strong person.
This made Old Ent increasingly satisfied with his grandson. Although he couldn't sense Battle Qi, he believed in his own judgment that Chen Yun would eventually become a strong contender.
Although seeing Chen Yun so weak pained Old Ent's heart, he was, after all, his grandson. They had lived together for six years, and the deep family bond could not be fully expressed in words.
However, for his future, Old Ent still swung his fist, followed by a series of intermittent screams that even startled the nearby fierce beasts...
In the blink of an eye, a month had passed. Chen Yun could now endure under the fourth waterfall for an hour and a half. If he could last another half hour, he would complete this stage.
The thrill of such rapid improvement made Chen Yun extremely excited. He could clearly feel the changes in his body, the surging physical strength making him want to roar at the sky.
But in the past few days, a sharp pain had been intermittently shooting through every part of his body. The pain, which went deep into his bones and soul, made even the resilient Chen Yun, who had undergone days of arduous training, gasp in pain.
He told Old Ent about this situation. Old Ent's expression changed slightly upon hearing this. After a long period of contemplation, he told Chen Yun not to worry and to continue training here alone, stating that he would be leaving for two days. He did not say where he was going or what he was doing.
Another day passed, meaning Old Ent had been gone for one day. In the afternoon of the second day, while training, Chen Yun suddenly felt a wave of intense pain erupt from all parts of his body, like waves, one after another, growing stronger and stronger. The pain, which penetrated his soul, almost made his soul collapse, and he felt on the verge of fainting, yet he remained conscious. Finally, he couldn't bear it anymore.
"Ah----!" Chen Yun let out a sky-piercing scream, a sound that could be heard from afar. In the depths of the mountain forest, Old Ent, who was picking a purple flower that looked crystal clear and emitted waves of energy, his face changed drastically!
