Background / History

Ru Qing first appears as Yihong Tower's celebrated Flower Queen: a renowned zither player whose beauty and noble bearing draw patrons from across the northern continent. Though she is permitted to perform without receiving clients, she remains subject to the brothel's control and understands that wealth can ultimately decide her fate 114 116 138.

She is kind to the other women of Yihong Tower. Xiao Yao later reveals that Ru Qing personally intervened when the Brothel Madam intended to brutalize her for refusing clients, and had treated Xiao Yao like a sister afterward 146. When Yihong Tower auctions Ru Qing's first night, she is overwhelmed by fear and resignation; Chen Yun enters the bidding to save her rather than claim her 139 145. He later rescues her from the tower 335.

Afterward, Ru Qing joins War God Academy. She recognizes Chen Yun despite his former disguise because her innate Immortal Spirit Eye can perceive a person's soul origin directly 335 386. Her cultivation progresses with unusual speed, and she insists on entering the Demon Suppressing Tower despite Chen Yun's concerns 386.

Inside the tower, Ru Qing develops from an inexperienced fighter into a capable combatant. Before Chen Yun's wedding to Niya, Ru Qing confesses her love and asks him for a single minute of genuine affection.
