Background / History

Cassif was a registered disciple of Dreamy Sea, one of the Five Great Holy Lands. He colluded with Venerable Wutian, defected to the Dark Faction, and betrayed his master, Nan Wuya. Lanling helped lure Nan Wuya into a trap; Nan Wuya was severely injured and imprisoned beneath Lanling's manor while Wutian sought the Nine Nether Chapters from him. 32 34

His manor concealed Dark Magic restrictions, a secret underground chamber, and a collection of puppet-like men whose souls had been extracted. Nan Wuya remained chained in the underground chamber until Qi Bei infiltrated the estate and the conflict with Wutian ended in Wutian's death. 31 32 33 34

After discovering Wutian's corpse and the breached restrictions, Lanling concluded that an unknown Dark Faction expert had entered his estate. He concealed the incident from his household and sought Elder Weir's assistance in examining the Giant Sun Elephants that had rampaged through the manor. 35

Qi Bei later summoned Lanling to Lanhe Town under the guise of the same mysterious expert. Terrified by Qi Bei's dragon energy, Lanling submitted without resistance and allowed Qi Bei to place a controlling trace of inner force in his Heavenly Aperture. 45 47
