Several people stood up, including the young officer Henry had just thoroughly berated. After giving a fairly standard salute, they left. The young man in particular stomped away heavily, as if afraid no one would hear the resentment in his heart.

Watching the young officers he had trained leave, General Ross looked at the young man before him with some helplessness. "It seems you gained quite a lot during those years working for Tony Stark."

Henry's smile faded a little. "Working under that filthy rich bastard was genuinely torturous. That salary was more like compensation for emotional distress."

"So you have no plans to go somewhere that would let you put your talents to use?"

"I don't squander money or throw it around in Las Vegas. As things stand, my assets are enough to let me live comfortably for the rest of my life. So I think being happy matters more than putting my talents to use. The fact that I don't commit crimes or stir up trouble is patriotic enough."

"What a pity. I think highly of you, kid. You're someone capable of great things." General Ross offered the compliment with an unreadable smile.

Naturally, Henry didn't take it seriously. This old fox was nowhere near as shallow or stubborn as he appeared. On the contrary, he was an act from head to toe.
