For the first time in a while, Henry was back doing research at his secret base. His focus, of course, was the pure psionic energy obtained after pounding those demonic avatars into pulp.
Preserving a grain-of-rice-sized Psionic Crystal in an ordinary environment was extremely difficult. Even a vacuum, electromagnetic fields, and every other technological method Henry could think of fell short of the ring Wanda had made.
Left in an ordinary environment, the psionic energy would begin absorbing impurities from its surroundings. Not only would it turn cloudy, but it would also steadily dissipate and shrink.
This was not something he could fix by throwing another punch to knock out the impurities. Every substance in the environment would compete for that pure psionic energy, stripping it from the Psionic Crystal. That was why the crystal would grow smaller and smaller if left alone.
Henry certainly would not let something so precious go to waste, so he could only return the Psionic Crystal to the Black Gem Ring. This stuff had been squeezed out of demons; under normal circumstances, it was not easy to obtain.
At that moment, the Kryptonian once again regretted the two times he had blown Mephisto apart. Those two avatars of the archdevil should have yielded plenty of pure psionic energy. But he had wasted them both. What a shame.
Henry had not forgotten the seven large doll heads containing evil spirit souls that he had brought back while taking a large group on a road trip. He had always wanted to study this unusual combination of souls and nonhuman physical structures.
