"Hehe! I'm here, I'm here!" The voice grew louder as a figure plummeted from the sky.

In the darkness of the city, Spider-Man, clad in his red and blue suit, suddenly swung past everyone. Like a juggler, he somersaulted several times in the air and landed atop a streetlamp. "Where are the Monster? Where are Monster? I'm ready!"

Wolverine pulled out the cigars that had been crumpled and mangled from his Kree, lit them with a lighter he'd found on the corpse, and mumbled grumbling, "Kid, I came down here before you and didn't get a single thing. You're dreaming."

As a seasoned smoker, Wolverine can accurately identify who smokes and who doesn't just by their clothing and appearance; who carries a lighter and who doesn't. That's quite a skill in itself.

Lieutenant Colonel Spaar, upon seeing Spider-Man appear, naturally recognized this most daring Little Bug in New York. However, instead of feeling redeemed by a savior's arrival, she offered no criticism.

"I've always thought of the X-Men as a circus troupe, and now they've evolved into a full-fledged circus?"

Despite being ridiculed like this, Cyclops surprisingly didn't feel angry. Instead, a sense of frustration welled up in his chest. He wanted to refute, but didn't know how to defend himself. Because he felt the same way.

"I heard the gunfire stop. Did we take down all the attacking Zombies?" A somewhat heroic female voice came from inside the medical tent. Betty Thaddeus Ross emerged from the tent with Gwen Stacy in tow.

"Betty, the X-Men have brought Spider-Man to help." Lieutenant Colonel Spaar called the young woman she had watched grow up by her own name. As her father's right-hand woman, Kathleen Spaar was one of the few military figures Betty Thaddeus Ross didn't dislike.

Therefore, General Thaddeus General Ross assigned Lieutenant Colonel Spaar to lead the 22nd Chemical Technical Guard Battalion, which had just been converted from the U.S. military Technical Guard Unit (e), to carry out this special mission.

This is one of the core units of the U.S. Army Chemical Corps. Another unit, the 23rd Chemical Group, is permanently deployed in South Korea and is responsible for missions in the Indo-Pacific Region.

Betty, this United States girl, wasn't shy at all. She stepped forward and shook hands with Cyclops. "Hello, I'm Betty Thaddeus Ross, the newly appointed professor of cell biology at Culver University. I'm a civilian scholar commissioned by the U.S. military to monitor a special infectious disease event in Raccoon City and prepare an assessment report. I'd like to ask, why are the X-Men here? I remember you've been supporting Vampires eradication operations in various states lately?"

Noticing Jean Grey landing behind him, Cyclops quickly released Betty Thaddeus Ross's hand. Without any ill intentions, he stated frankly, "A friend warned us that something bad had happened here. That's why we came."

"I just didn't expect to see U.S. military troops here. Has something really happened here? You're not here to cover up the truth, are you?"

Cyclops's words were quite impolite. However, Betty Thaddeus Ross wasn't angry at all; instead, she defended the U.S. military, saying, "There's no need to harbor such deep hostility, X-Men."

"Although I don't particularly like the U.S. military either, our presence here isn't without reason. The biggest reason behind it is the Vampires and Werewolves that have become a major problem for the whole world lately."

"Since the recent declaration of war against Vampires and Werewolves across the United States, starting in New York, there have been more than a few instances of Vampires or Werewolves attempting to start a Vampires or Werewolves plague by randomly biting ordinary people."

"Most state governments were powerless to resist such situations, and the Vampires and Werewolves really escalated the situation several times. In the end, it was the state governments that mobilized the National Guard and even brought in the U.S. military to quell the situation."

"Therefore, the U.S. military. Northern Command has changed its policy and no longer passively waits for state governments to request assistance. Instead, it will proactively send out assessment troops when it detects signs within its monitoring range."

"In order to avoid giving others the impression that the military is above the elected government, professional evaluators will entrust civilian experts like me to endorse the evaluation report."

"This is the first testing site for this brand-new mechanism, and we've only been here for two days. I'd like to report that everything is normal here, and there are no Vampires around."

"But as you can see, we seem to have encountered something different. At least the UV Bullets or Silver Nitrate Bullets that the soldiers brought to deal with Vampires or Werewolves are ineffective against that Monster."

Because this was the first time such an evaluation task had been conducted, it was established in 2002 under the authorization of President George W. Bush. The current commander of the United States Northern Command, General Thaddeus General Ross, a four-star general, commissioned his daughter, Betty Thaddeus Ross, to prepare the evaluation report. The reason for choosing his daughter wasn't to enhance her reputation or because he thought she was easier to manipulate. Rather, General Ross Thaddeus Ross knew very well that his daughter, who often disagreed with him, would produce this evaluation report with the utmost rigor.

General Ross didn't want a biased assessment report to lead him to misuse troops and make a fool of himself by using a cannon to kill a mosquito. Moreover, this first assessment report would serve as a reference for those who followed.

It could be said that General Ross had taken his daughter's little schemes into account. However, neither father nor daughter realized that they were facing completely different situations.

"So you still don't know what happened?" Jean Grey, who stepped out from behind Cyclops, extended a friendly hand after asking the question and introduced herself. "I'm Jean Grey of the X-Men, the chief attending physician of the medical team."

Jean Grey's warrant for arrest due to the 1992 incident has been lifted, and she has received a presidential pardon. Therefore, she no longer needs to use an alias or conceal her identity in front of official organizations like the U.S. military.

Spider-Man then jumped down from the lamppost. He first greeted Gwen, who was standing behind Betty Thaddeus Ross. "Hi, Miss Stacy. Oh, we're here to create Antidote for the infectious disease, to try and resolve the Monster crisis in Raccoon City."

When suddenly called out by the Little Bug, Gwen simply waved her hand in response. However, both she and Betty Thaddeus Ross's eyes were actually focused on the animal-shaped dolls and metal figures.

Especially that Donald Duck dressed as Robin Hood; Gwen and Betty had seen him before. The last time was on the Empire State University campus, during the Werewolves attack. This Duck Plushie suddenly appeared and viciously killed all the Werewolves present.

Gwen Stacy was still wondering who was inside the Duck Plushie, while Betty Thaddeus Ross already had a guess.

But besides being here for another girl, does this man's presence here also indicate that things are quite complicated?

But the Green Arrow Duck ultimately didn't go up to greet them. Instead, after confirming that the threat had passed, it led the Animal Squad members into the night sky.
