Splitting Up
"So what do we do now? Find the mastermind behind this?" Spider-Man- Man asked, rubbing his hands together in anticipation.
The building had already been cleared out once, leaving only a few families hiding in their homes. Back in the sky, Bullhead, Skyhawk, and Ursa Major stood with Bonnie Mech and looked at Green Arrow Duck.
The X-Men, of course, awaited Professor X's instructions.
As the one who brought these superheroes together, Green Arrow Duck had to offer some advice. He didn't shy away from it and said directly, "I suggest we split up. The epidemic is still spreading, and we don't know where to look or what to look for. We only know that we're in this city."
"Separating us would be the most efficient way to utilize our existing manpower. However, each team must ensure they can handle these Monster, "Green Arrow Duck pointed to the Licker he had dismembered. Although no one knew what these wretches were called, they could still assess the difference in strength.
"First, we must avoid the ridiculous situation seen in horror movies where the characters split up and get picked off one by one by the villains. Also, every team operating independently must have at least one way to contact the base."
As he spoke, Green Arrow Duck took out a tray of ear-mounted communicators from the storage compartment on his Duck Butt and placed them on the table. "These communicators can communicate directly with my Mecha system, and they also serve as location devices."
"As long as you're within a ten-kilometer radius of Bonnie Mech, you'll definitely be able to receive the signal. With satellite relay, we should be able to make calls throughout Raccoon City. I suggest each team that goes out should carry at least one communicator."
Actually, this thing has a communication range of 1,000 kilometers, but that's an exaggerated technology. Green Arrow Duck chose a figure that others could accept, even though that number is still pretty far-fetched. Just make sure the signal doesn't drop when you need to use it.
Green Arrow Duck was the first to grab one and toss it to Spider-Man. Without a word, Spider-Man stuffed the communication headset into his mask and hung it on his ear, instead of taking off the mask first.
After speaking, Green Arrow Duck asked his companions, "What are your plans? Stay behind or go out to find something? I'll go out." Now that it's been revealed that "humans" are involved, Green Arrow Duck thought he might as well just dig out Umbrella. And doing so would indeed be easier than starting from scratch to develop a vaccine for the virus.
The Ursa Major Mecha raised its hand and said, "I'll go out and look for things too. I want to investigate the details of this man-made epidemic." The Bullhead Mecha, however, said, "I'll stay here. There's a lot to guard here; we can't leave the city empty. Ultimately, we'll need the equipment here to mass-produce the Antidote, right? Besides, the group down below will face a coordinated attack, which means they might face a second one. We also need to be wary of becoming a target for the mastermind."
Although Bonnie and Eagle Armor didn't say anything, Green Arrow Duck probably understood what they were thinking. "In that case, please stay at the base. If any team sends out an emergency distress signal, please also provide assistance. With the Mecha ' flight speed and the capabilities of their positioning communicators, you are the most suitable reserve team."
All three Mecha nodded in agreement. "Alright, we'll handle the reserves."
Green Arrow Duck addressed everyone, "What If...? anyone obtains useful information, they can share it directly through the communication channel. What If...? you find the Antidote, remember to notify everyone so that everyone can return to base and not scatter outside."
"What If...? we rescue innocent civilians along the way and want to bring them back to this building for protection, I generally have no objection. However, please remember to check whether the person is infected."
"I believe no one wants to bring back an infected person, only for them to mutate among innocent people and bite those they've saved, right? The Ursa Major Mecha has arrived at the edge of the sky, next to the Green Arrow Duck. Shall we act together?"
"No need, neither of us needs to worry about the threat of those Zombies, let's split up."
"Alright."
Without waiting for the X-Men's instructions, the two Mecha took off and headed in different directions. Spider-Man, a step behind, shouted, "Wait for me!" and leaped off the edge of the sky, shooting Silk in other directions before swinging away.
Although Cyclops was quite displeased with the group's unauthorized actions, Professor X remained calm. He maneuvered his wheelchair to the Mecha that had remained in place. "Ms. Bonnie, can we find out where the other three went?"
Bonnie Mech, dressed as a female Bugs Bunny, extends her right hand, spreading her five fingers to instantly display a 3D-projected map of Raccoon City. Three markers are shown moving rapidly within the map: Green Arrow Duck, the Ursa Major Mecha, and Spider-Man.
This was during the installation of equipment and the initial examination of the Zombies, while Professor X and Bonnie Mech were on the combat platform inside the Blackbird Jet. This is when the "old" professor discovered the Mecha's capabilities. Although this seventy-year-old man thought his method of extracting information without using his abilities was quite clever, Thena, in front of the seven-thousand-year -Eternals, was perfectly aware of Professor X's thoughts. She was simply cooperating voluntarily.
In any case, the Mecha manufacturer was aware of these things, and his lack of intervention was tantamount to acquiescing. Moreover, the current battle did indeed require close cooperation from everyone.
The map of Raccoon City displayed by Bonnie Mech was not only clearer than that on the Blackbird Jet, but it also had additional markings for commercial areas, residential areas, and even company names.
To facilitate viewing, a certain amount of map information will be displayed according to the map's scale.
This information allowed Professor X to deduce where to search for the answers most easily. He immediately assigned the X-Men teams. In addition to Cyclops and Storm, who each led their own teams, Professor X also had Wolverine lead a team of several New Generation X-Men. After assigning the locations, he sent out the three teams.
Jean Grey remains. The pathological reports on the Zombies virus and the new Monster species have not yet been fully analyzed; What If...? anyone is injured and returns, only Jean can treat them; if necessary, she can also be sent out as a reserve force to provide support.
Another concern that Professor X didn't voice was whether Jean Grey's presence on the field would have any negative impact on "Phoenix." To avoid the worst-case scenario, it would be better to let Jean stay.
The other two Mecha belong to the same system, so Professor X doesn't need to worry about the map information; they can see it too. Perhaps the only one blindly searching outside without knowing anything is Spider-Man.
To be fair, Professor X knew that once they found the mastermind, things wouldn't be friendly. It was better to keep Spider-Man, this innocent kid, away from those dirty deeds; he'd already suffered enough, there was no need to drag him down with him.
After all this was done and the X-Men team set off, Professor X did not return to the Blackbird Jet. Instead, he stayed in the sky, watching the mutated Monster that was pinned to the ground and whose limbs had been removed, yet it was still full of vitality.
Jean Grey set the parameters for the testing equipment and got everything running before approaching the elderly man who was both her mentor and friend. "Professor, what are you thinking about?"
Professor X said earnestly, "Humans can be so ruthless, turning on their own kind without hesitation, committing such cruel acts. Although I don't know if this plague was deliberately spread or an accident, I'm just wondering, what will become of us Mutants? Is there still a place for us in this world? Jean, perhaps the moment when all Mutants face a choice is not far off."
