Upgrading the Arsenal
Jill Valentine didn't take much; she just grabbed a gun sling, an extra Smith & Wesson Semi-automatic pistol, and two magazines.
The advantages of this new gun, besides being lighter, are that the magazine can be shared with the old gun, reducing resupply hassles. Both guns use 9mm ammunition.
When she approached the counter, the Gun Store owner dutifully took out the appropriate ammunition from the safe and placed it on the table. Jill then loaded the magazine right there, which was highly irregular. The Gun Store owner's lips twitched a few times, but he tolerated it.
Normally, if a customer dared to load bullets at Gun Store, the owner would immediately take back the weapon and ammunition, refusing to sell it again, because he was afraid the customer would use the loaded weapon to rob him, no matter how much the customer assured him that their actions would be the same. So, as soon as he saw such a sign, the Gun Store owner would put his hand on the gun and drive the person away, with very few exceptions.
But today we opened such an example because the shop owner is well aware of the situation on the street.
Alice didn't immediately head to the weapon section; instead, she went to the clothing and equipment area to get herself a suitable outfit. She figured she had someone willing to foot the bill. In other words, even if no one paid, she planned to just rob someone.
However, she knew this wasn't the time to be picky, so Alice focused only on functionality and fit.
She quickly found suitable clothes and immediately took off the smelly men's work clothes that she hadn't washed in ages.
The Gun Store owner then realized that the girl was wearing nothing underneath! Unfortunately, there were several shelves separating them, so he could only see vaguely. This made him crane his neck as far as he could.
"Ahem!" Jill Valentine also noticed her companion's audacious act, but she only coughed to alert the shopkeeper instead of making any inappropriate moves with her weapon. This restraint stemmed from her experience with firearms during her military and police career.
But since he already had a loaded gun in his hand, even though he wasn't being pointed at, the Gun Store owner was still very understanding and looked away.
Just as Jill was about to speak, a sudden thud startled everyone in the Gun Store. Turning around, they saw Alice, who had just changed her clothes, kneeling on the ground, looking extremely pained.
Jill Valentian helped his companion up and looked at Alice was clutching her head. "Where are you hurt? You look like you're in a lot of pain."
Struggling to suppress the pain, Alice forced a smile and said, "I'm fine. It's just that I get a headache every now and then after waking up. But it usually goes away quickly. It's nothing."
Alice got up and quickly returned to normal. She walked into the equipment area and began choosing Gun sling for her gun. Jill Valentine didn't say much, but helped her pick out the equipment.
"Brother, where did you find those two girls?" The Gun Store owner leaned forward and asked the Duck Plushie in a low voice.
The Green Arrow Duck honestly replied, "One is in the hospital, and the other is in the Police Station."
"Do you think if I take my gear and go to those two places you mentioned, I might find a lone person who needs help?"
"The beautiful girl who helped me?"
"Alone—" Green Arrow Duck turned to look at the two beauties who were indeed above average in looks. "Needs help—" He just couldn't imagine how that word got associated with them.
Turning to look at the Gun Store owner, the Green Arrow Duck mascot's expression turned very serious. "Although this is a time that needs heroes, if you're thinking like that, I'd suggest you just stay in this fortress."
"Moreover, it's wishful thinking to think that simply piling up some junk behind the gate will stop Zombies or Monster from invading. These Monster are not like humans; their brains have protective mechanisms that make ordinary people know to restrain themselves from doing things so as not to hurt themselves."
"These Monster have lost this self-preservation mechanism. Even if they smash their heads, bleed, have torn flesh, or even break bones, they will still do their best to do something. For example, push open your door or smash through that glass display window."
"Your shop facade offers absolutely no protection. Wooden planks and iron doors are far more durable than anything else to truly keep out those Monster. If you want to hold out until we solve the problem, you can't stay like this."
The Gun Store owner, of course, didn't heed Green Arrow Duck's advice. "My door is always open; I'm just waiting for someone in need of rescue to pass by."
"Ideally, she'd be a beautiful woman who needs my protection; maybe I could develop a good relationship with her. I might even have the chance to open a super shelter, What If...? that apocalyptic future really happen."
"If I lower all the Roll-up Shutter and board up the windows to make them airtight, no one will know we can come in, and I'll have completely lost this opportunity."
After hearing this, Green Arrow Duck could only sigh, "Apocalyptic movies and TV shows are really harmful." "Okay, that's your prerogative. I was just offering a suggestion."
"Hey bro, can you save one for me?" the Gun Store owner asked with a sly grin.
Speechless, Green Arrow Duck could only say, "Go ask them yourself. If they want to stay, I won't object. We're just partners."
"No need to ask anymore. We heard everything you said, the answer is no!" Alice, having chosen her gun, placed the newly acquired shotgun on the table, her eyes sharply fixed on the Gun Store owner.
The shop owner, looking rather guilty, pulled out several types of shotgun ammunition. "Which kind do you want? Birdshot? Buckshot? Or Heavy Slug? Do you need me to explain the differences between the different types of ammunition?"
"No need, just give me the Buckshot. Our opponent isn't someone Birdshot can contain."
After taking back several boxes of unused shotgun ammunition, the shopkeeper brought out a box of Buckshot, placing it on the table along with the original box.
With her own ammunition, Alice not only filled both shotguns to the brim, but also filled the empty slots in her ammunition belt with large shotgun shells.
Besides the shotgun, Alice also prepared two Semi-automatic pistol. They were stored in the same way as Jill Valentine, strapped to her thighs with belts.
The two men, fully armed, loaded all their weapons, seemingly unconcerned about the possibility of accidental discharge. "We're ready. When are we leaving?"
Jill Valentian, who was speaking, hadn't changed much, except that he now carried a gun under his left arm and had two pouches for Spare magazines on his tactical belt.
However, Alice's appearance and temperament underwent a complete transformation after the outfit change. Her previous ill-fitting work clothes were replaced by a sleeveless, fitted outfit. Although everyone's first focus should have been on the four guns on her body.
Green Arrow Duck, preparing to leave, gave the Gun Store owner one last piece of advice. "Dude, even if you want women to seek refuge with you, that's why you're unwilling to close the Roll-up Shutter."
"But I must say, at least reinforce the windows. Don't block them completely; let people outside still see what's inside. If people looking for shelter pass by and see what's happening inside, it might give you a chance to fulfill your wish."
