Experimental Bomb
Knowing that the Duck Plushie had reconnaissance abilities, Alice and Jill Valentine naturally wouldn't take his warning lightly.
Furthermore, just standing at the top of the stairs, one could hear strange noises coming from below. There were the hollow breathing sounds of Zombies, and the rustling sounds of a group of people moving around.
Wait a little longer, and you'll see the Zombies start climbing the stairs and appear around the corner.
"This is really a headache," Green Arrow Duck complained, another headshot from the Railgun. Every shot was accurate and deadly; no Zombies could survive a single hit.
Jill Valentine, who had tried to steal a kill but failed, glared at the back of the Duck Plushie's head with displeasure. "What's bothering you? It's all the same—one shot and you're down."
"But letting them pile up on the stairs is obstructing passage. Don't you find that bothersome?"
The two women stared at the fallen headless Zombies; just one took up almost half the staircase. Two or three down, and they'd be piled on top of each other. "Okay, that's a good excuse. It's really a headache."
As the Green Arrow Duck descended, it fired shots while using its feet to sweep the fallen headless Zombies aside, revealing the steps below.
What If...? flat ground, one might simply step over a corpse. But on unstable surfaces like stairs, even if one doesn't fall to their death, they could still slip and get injured.
So no one dared to step on the corpses to go downstairs; instead, they carefully walked down the cleared passage.
The door leading to the restaurant floor was crammed with Zombies trying to enter the stairwell. The crowd was so dense that some Zombies had their arms or legs broken off, collapsing to the ground and being trampled by other Zombies.
"Are there any other routes?" Green Arrow Duck asked Alice, who should be most familiar with the Hive Base. "Taking a detour would be a long way off. And I can't guarantee there won't be Monster blocking the way. Do you have enough ammo to clear them out? Or do you want to take the detour?"
Alice had already said that, so what could Green Arrow Duck do? Two small rotary machine guns rose from its Duck Butt, spinning with the motors. Jill, watching from behind, only managed to utter, "Damn it! Why do you have these things in your equipment?!"
The Green Arrow Duck didn't answer; only the roar of machine guns echoed as a Zombies fell.
The support, even thicker than a machine gun, not only absorbs the recoil of machine gun fire but also flexibly steers the gun, ensuring that every bullet hits the head of a living Zombies instead of missing its target.
Such accuracy meant that Green Arrow Duck's two machine guns couldn't fire for very long before running out of Zombies to shoot. Even after the Zombies crowding the entrance to the passage fell, those who continued to squeeze in were also shot and fell to the ground, completely blocking the entrance.
Because machine guns use 7.62mm bullets and cannot use exploding Negasonic Teenage Warhead like Railgun, many Zombies were able to retain their entire bodies. Their heads were not completely blown off; only their brainstems were shattered.
The entire process probably only took a few breaths; the Zombies fell in droves like harvested Maze. Even Alice, who knew that Green Arrow Duck carried two machine guns, was astonished by such efficiency.
"Let's go. There are even more Monster after we enter the restaurant. This is the first time I've faced so many enemies, and some might slip through. You all need to be careful."
The Green Arrow Duck, who is never one to make definitive statements, cautioned his fellow ducks.
If one were to enter the Hive Base alone, even if a Zombies were to slip past the machine gun and manage to get close, they wouldn't be able to bite through the metal shell of the Duck Leopard armor. The risk of making a mistake is quite low.
But having companions is a different story. Unlike the Green Arrow Duck, the others aren't protected by metal armor. If a Zombies slips through and they get bitten due to carelessness, they could lose their lives.
So, out of caution, Green Arrow Duck warned the others, though Alice and Jill Valentine were rather dismissive. Jill, in particular, a former soldier, knew all too well the power of a revolver machine gun; the only risk would be running out of ammunition. The pile of corpses blocking the doorway was the best proof of that. Just as the two women were wondering how the Duck Plushie would clear the corpses blocking the doorway while also dealing with the Zombies that could attack at any moment behind it, Green Arrow Duck pulled an experimental bomb from his Duck Butt storage compartment.
It resembles the Pumpkin Bomb used by the Green Goblin, but instead of any explosives, it contains a microgram of a Gravityium.
As the most crucial anti-gravity material for creating the flight capabilities of their own Mecha and Support Mech, it is extremely rare on Earth. It took considerable effort to find some, following the descriptions in the Kree Encyclopedia.
But this thing isn't just for reversing gravity devices; the experimental bomb in Green Arrow Duck's hand is the first weaponized application of Gravityium. After pressing the delayed fuse, Green Arrow Duck threw the bomb onto the pile of corpses blocking the doorway, simultaneously stopping the two behind him from advancing. The two girls weren't exactly courting death; seeing the Duck Plushie throw something that looked like a grenade, even though he didn't shout his classic "fire_i_e le.", Alice and Jill still hid behind Green Arrow Duck.
Instead of the expected explosion, a flash of light was followed by an unusual suction force that seemed to be pulling people forward. Green Arrow Duck, unusually, stretched out his arms to stop the two women from being dragged by this suction.
At the core of the Gravityium explosion, a physical singularity was formed. It continuously attracted surrounding objects and tightly compressed the attracted matter near the core region.
Visibly, at the site of the experimental bomb's explosion, the piled-up corpses had been compressed into tight spheres of flesh the size of fingertips, clearing a large area. Despite the empty space, things were constantly being sucked in from further away to fill it.
However, this gravity bomb prototype was ultimately not a finished product. Something went wrong, and the anomaly that should have dissipated automatically suddenly gushed outwards! All the Zombies flesh, bone, and blood that had been absorbed exploded outwards in an instant.
Not only was the doorway, which had been tightly packed with corpses, cleared away, but the concrete door frame was also blown to the point of collapse. The corpses, door panels, and other debris that had been drawn closer by the suction force but had not yet been fully compressed were now being ejected outwards.
Fortunately, after throwing the experimental bomb, Green Arrow Duck deployed the Isu Shield Field. Although this Isu Technology shield could not counteract the gravitational singularity's pull, it still blocked the various substances that subsequently erupted out of control.
Before them stood what appeared to be an invisible wall, its surface blurred and crimson with the blood and flesh of Zombies, a truly horrifying sight.
"What is this?" "Is this normal?" Green Arrow Duck was momentarily at a loss for words when Jill Valentine and Alice asked these questions. He could only try to change the subject. "Anyway, the entrance is cleared. Let's hurry up and get through. Otherwise, we'll be stuck again."
